That I agree with.

I also find it really weird that players are allowing timewasting now, I find it baffling that players are preventing quick free kicks but the team with the ball aren't just smashing it into them for a booking. Jiminez got sent off for it last season but no one seems to do it anymore.
This has crossed my mind. Would the player kicking the ball potentially be booked for dangerous play (stupid as it sounds!)? I’d be all for just booting the ball as hard as you can at the person trying to time waste. The problem being they’d then roll on the floor for 5 minutes to further time waste <laugh>
I suspect every player also knows they would be doing the same if the roles were reversed, or may yet still do it in the match if they overturn the deficit. So I think players fear looking like hypocrites within the space of half an hour, rather than over the course of a week.

Kick it at them again.

On a sidenote to that, I liked it at HT during Arsenal v Brighton where Roy Keane pretty much said Martinelli got we he deserved and it was right that retribution was handed out to him for clattering Mittoma early on <laugh>

Remember it's only time wasting if it's not the so called top six then it's game management <roll>

The point is yellow worthy offences are becoming overlooked more and more for completely made up reasons. If a player commits a yellow offence 30 seconds after getting booked then that's all on the player, why should the players failings be protected so much, why is the criteria for a second yellow suddenly different to the first. It's just further inconsistencies that we are allowing into the game.

Oh, another another thing...when a player commits another foul shortly after receiving a yellow, but doesn't get a second booking as it's close in time to the first one! <grr>
I disagree massively on this one, it's one of my bugbears of fan referee analysis. Just because a player on a yellow commits a foul doesn't make it a second yellow, regardless of how soon after. Odds are they got the first one for a culmination of fouls, or the classic "preventing an attack" shirt pull type. One more fairly innocuous foul doesn't send you off after that, unless it falls into the yellow card offense bucket.

Agree on the rest though.
I maybe worded it wrong, I meant if there are two clear yellow card offences in a short period of time then it should be 2 yellows regardless of if it was 1 minute or 1 hour between offences. Didn’t want second yellows for innocuous offences.

That stupid unwritten rule is pissing me off lately, far too many times we are seeing players get away with second yellows because they already have one. This whole made up notion of "nobody wants to see players get sent off" which is true to an extent, just not at the expense of the rules. We talk that inconsistency is the biggest issue with officiating yet we have this happening almost every week. A yellow card offence is a yellow card offence and they need to start sticking to the rules on this.

100%.

Another thing that annoys me is that if it's early then the refs often don't give a yellow (see Martinelli yesterday on Mitomoa, and the Brighton player who took retribution on Martinelli). Doesn't matter if it's 60 seconds or 60 minutes, if it's a yellow card offence give the bloody yellow.

There has been so much inconsistency in refereeing this season it's ridiculous. Like why wasn't the Leeds keeper' sent off on Saturday? He got a yellow for time wasting and then blatantly carried on time wasting!

I don’t think it was anywhere close to being a straight red but it was surely a second yellow.

How was Firpo not sent off for the second penalty???

He almost caught the ball <laugh>
It's one of those silly one's where if he wasn't already on a yellow, he certainly would've got a yellow for that. No idea what he was thinking his hand being up there.

Guaranteed at least Europa league football next season anyway with Spurs losing which tbh we would have bitten the hand off if offered at the start of the season.

I still think having that game in hand will see us through for top 4 though
Actually just realised Brighton have only played 33 games so nothing confirmed yet

Still 3rd and still will be after all the games this weekend, still in our hands and said it earlier in the week that the toughest games this time of the season are the ones against teams fighting for their lives.
One more win will do it imo.
Definitely need more than 1 win, Liverpool will almost certainly win all 3 games.

2 home wins (Brighton and Leicester) should hopefully be enough.
I don't see them beating Villa so yeah one win <roll>
