Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Burnley

Interesting that there were a few comments last week about Murphy being useless - and here we saw is speed and decisiveness in finding players in the box. Hes defo a step up on Almiron imo We need to keep him Even when we were s*** he was productive in terms of goals and assists, like a less flashy...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Burnley

Burn was completely found out this year and it's been clear to see in many games, last season is last season, we can only judge the now and he was getting shredded almost weekly at LB. Disagree with this completely. A handful of errors maybe, but massively overstated and far fewer gamebreakers than...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Burnley

Let's not forget though that the shoehorned LB was part of the joint meanest defence in the league last season. Dan Burn hasn't become a bad LB overnight, and a lot of goals conceded are a combination of the absurd amount of forced rotation at the back, a lack of protection from the midfield (that p...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Burnley

Cost me a Krafth clean sheet more importantly. I'd have had a Barnes assist had he not shot straight at the keeper too. I think I might have fallen out with him.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Burnley

Players coming back at exactly the right time, shame about CB. Push on against Brighton and hopefully Palace and Arsenal have done us some favours ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.

Scary what we could have achieved without the injuries and the generally ropey away form.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Burnley

I do fancy us today for some reason. Bit of hunger, Isak on form, Wilson/Barnes etc challenging for places. Just get at them.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Burnley

I've brought him into my Draft FPL team purely because of a lack of options and the fact he's guaranteed to play the next 4 games (unless he gets an injury).

I wonder if we might go to an extremely wacky back 5 with Trippier inside too next week?

Re: Weekend football - 27/28 April 2024

I don't usually hold a grudge on refereeing decisions, but that handball remains one of the worst VAR interventions I've seen. Add to that the fact Dortmund fans were delightful rather than d******** and it's a no brainer.

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

Chelsea are already knackered though aren't they by being already well past the UEFA thresholds, so holding other clubs back might benefit them? To be honest I'm not reading anything into this until details start coming through and clubs actually act on it. For all we know the threshold could be 20x...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

If Targett stays fit he's probably the best actual left back at the club (leaving out Trippier out of position, and Livramento and Hall are still WIP), needs to be a decision for the medical staff. I still think any GK signing though needs to be an upgrade on Pope, not just a replacement for Dubravk...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

I'd be disapproved if we let Longstaff go for £15m, no way do we fill that position for the same price. As a backup to the extent you'd hope Murphy ends up next season he's perfectly decent, especially when he isn't playing every game injured.
