Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Forest

Players look so lethargic, really need a week off.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Hatters

I’m all for chucking in the Liverpool game (these never end well), gift them the three points and the players a week off ahead of the derby.

Feel for Tripps - he never hides. Where’s a winter World Cup break when you need one? Lads could do with a month off at this rate. Season hinges on Sunderland next month.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v AC Milan

Howes poor squad management has got us in this mess. Half a season to go with a physically and mentally exhausted team. You can't play every weekend and almost every mid week with the same 11 constantly without any rotation, inevitably the injuries start to come, some may call it bad luck, but at t...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v AC Milan

Gutted to go out especially after PSG barely got the job done. I know I shouldn’t be happy about it but the squad’s been stretched too thin so it was always CL Ro16 or nothing for me tonight. Squad isn’t physically or mentally ready for Europe balancing act this year. Horrid but fun group nonetheles...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v PSG

Never a penalty, but to be fair a draw was probably the right result. Our depleted side played very well, but they were better for the most part. We went toe to toe, and if we had the substitutes on the bench to replace knackered legs, we are winning that. Good point - did we even make a sub in the ...

Think the draw was a fair result and obviously gutted not to win but what is the point VAR?

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Bournemouth

It’s a shame the international break couldn’t come a week earlier. Injuries stacking up and remaining squad looks zapped. Performance could’ve been better but I find it hard to point too many fingers, team have been excellent and overall it’s been a successful season so far.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Borussia Dortmund

Milan-PSG result has taken the pressure off a little. Squad looking burnt out and needs a break. Could still progress but even the Europa league would still be a bonus. Although not sure current squad is equipped to deal with the demands of Europe and domestic this season.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Borussia Dortmund

Tough draw and rotten luck with player absences, but we’ve not looked out of place at the very top level. Been unlucky to get nothing from last two games.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Man U

Fantastic performance. Wasn’t too sure after seeineg the starting line up. Livramento looks a real player, be interesting to see how Howe can incorporate him more regularly. Man Utd awful, made to look s*** by our 2/3rd string side. On another note can we all take a moment to appreciate how refreshi...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

Not sure club will go for third striker given Isak, Barnes and Murphy should be back before window opens if not before. Looks like we’ll have to grin and bear it until then. Been unfortunate with injuries and Tonali suspension but it happens.

The rumours are there's dozens in Italy in the same little "ring" as Tonali.
Italian football loves a scandal. You hope it didn’t involve many more high profile players. It’s a shame it has coincided with the league’s renaissance.

Re: Sandro Tonali Deal Confirmed? You bet!

Why would his ban be so much longer than the other guys when he’s not denying it? Probably because he’s admitted to gambling on Milan games whereas the others accused haven’t. Laws in Italy don’t sound as stringent as here; can gamble on legal platforms just not on your own team, if I’ve understood...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v 'Ammers

Missed the game but caught the highlights. Would have been amazing had Isak put that chance away to and to come away from three points. Our form has been brilliant lately so I’ll take a point. Exciting to have those returning from injury and suspension after the international break too. Second game ...

Re: Weekend football - 30/9 to 02/10/23

Does anyone actually believe VAR has had a positive impact on football? I’m starting to think it’s perhaps the worst thing to happen to the game since…well, I’m not sure what. Ruins the flow of the game, goals often half celebrated as fans don’t want to get carried away, decisions are still open to ...
