Already exists I'm afraid. We're trying not to use any town name because the three of us are from different towns.Donkey Toon wrote:

Best we've come up with is Forest Row FC. Because our home pitch is beside a forest.

To give everyone an idea of what Lurgan's like, someone got shot in the head a few days ago in their own house.

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's a genuinely awful place come sign for us thoDuke wrote:I'm on a uni placement in Lurgan at the minute
What are you doing at uni if you don't mind my asking? I can't imagine many courses that would send you to Lurgan unless they started some sort of paramilitary course!

I dated a lass from Craigavon for a while. But whenever I went over for a visit we used to spend just about zero time there if we could help it. Used to head down to Newcastle in County Down instead. Could actually go to a pub there without worrying that you'd get the s*** kicked out of you because you had the wrong accent or were from the wrong religion.

Lurgan and Craigavon are basically the same place. They're only a few roundabouts apart. I'd say Craigavon's marginally worse of a place to live!Donkey Toon wrote:Sounds like CraigavonDuke wrote:To give everyone an idea of what Lurgan's like, someone got shot in the head a few days ago in their own house.

Yeah, it was quite some time ago, but I seem to remember she described Craigavon as the place where the overflows of mostly catholic Lurgan and mostly protestant Portadown mingled and then failed to get on with each other.MultipleJesuses wrote:Lurgan and Craigavon are basically the same place. Looking at a map, could you not use Lough Neagh in your name? I'm assuming all of your towns are close to it. Your nickname could be the Eels and you could have Eamonn the Eel as your mascot.

Re: Amateur Football Team
And to make matters worse, Craigavon is a failed city. Almost like Chernobyl or something in that it was just a few factories with estates built around them to house the workers. So you have all the religion stuff as you mentioned, the two neighbouring towns using it as a meeting ground for a fight, and then most of the people living there being really lower class. Just a dour, depressing place.Donkey Toon wrote:Yeah, it was quite some time ago, but I seem to remember she described Craigavon as the place where the overflows of mostly catholic Lurgan and mostly protestant Portadown mingled and then failed to get on with each other.MultipleJesuses wrote:

Good timing! I think we've actually decided on a name! It's not final until our first official committee meeting but I think we're going for Lough Shore Athletic. A) The Lough is the only redeeming quality of this place and B) Lough Shore is a car park we all used to meet when we were chavs who'd just passed their driving testbiggeordiedave wrote:Looking at a map, could you not use Lough Neagh in your name?
