Match day thread - NUFC v Rotherham
Thanks to nufc.com
Also looks like there could be streams !!!
2016/17:
Rotherham United (h)
Saturday sees the Millers make their first appearance at Gallowgate since an FA Cup tie back in February 1993. Kick-off is at an old-fashioned 3pm.
The game is a virtual sell-out, with the visitors taking their full allowable allocation of 3,200 and only a small number of single seats left in home areas.
Newcastle will start the game in second place, two points behind Brighton after Chris Hughton's side registered an incident-packed 2-1 home win over Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night.
NUFC: Aleksandar Mitrovic, Dwight Gayle and Vurnon Anita join Jesus Gamez and Rolando Aarons on the injured list but Isaac Hayden returned to the fray against Birmingham City in midweek.
Jonjo Shelvey is available for the first time in the Championship since winning at Burton. In his absence we won twice and lost twice in league fixtures.
Mo Diame, Chancel Mbemba and Christian Atsu are unavailable due to international commitments while Rafa Benitez confirmed on Friday that both Sammy Ameobi and Jamie Sterry will be in the squad.
Both have been out on loan at third tier clubs this season, full back Sterry debuting in the final game of last season against Spurs and then featuring in the EFL Cup tie versus Cheltenham Town back in August before joining Coventry City.
Winger Ameobi meanwhile made his 67th and most recent senior appearance in a Newcastle shirt (29 starts) against QPR at Loftus Road in May 2015.
Since then he's been at Championship side Cardiff City on a season-long loan before featuring for League One pacesetters Bolton Wanderers this time round.
There could be a debut for goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell following his arrival from Bristol City. He faced Newcastle when we won 1-0 at Ashton Gate earlier in the season.
Danny Ward, Kirk Broadfoot, Dexter Blackstock, Lee Frecklington and Lee Camp are all unavailable.
The Millers head to SJP six points adrift at the bottom of the table despite ending a three match losing run by beating Norwich City 2-1 at home last Saturday.
Paul Warne's side have a full week in which to prepare for their visit to Tyneside as they aim to improve on a record of 12 defeats from 13 away games - the sole exception to that a 2-2 draw at Ipswich in October.
Referee: Jeremy Simpson - first NUFC game for the Lancashire-based whistler.

Rail engineering work in the Durham area from Noon on Saturday until Noon on Sunday means that Virgin East Coast services are diverted via an alternative route. Other services will run to/from Darlington, with bus replacements to/from Durham and Newcastle.

Might just be me, but I'm not really arsed on watching a full 90 mins the day after. Unless I want to study the match or look out for player performances, I just wanna watch the highlights.Speedo wrote:Full 90 will be on nufcTV tomorrow though - they're trialling doing this for the next 4 games
Be good if they streamed it on the day.

This. I'd only watch the 90 minutes if I avoided the score all day today.Chappy wrote:Might just be me, but I'm not really arsed on watching a full 90 mins the day after. I've always wondered why the haven't started NufcTV and charge a monthly subscription for watching live games. Maybe we don't have the live rights to our own team!

We don't, neither does anyone else in the English league system. All tied to the tv rights.Toondes wrote:I've always wondered why the haven't started NufcTV and charge a monthly subscription for watching live games. Maybe we don't have the live rights to our own team!

Not got much choice atm though. A weakened side but still more than good enough to beat Rotheram.Johnny from the block wrote:[tweet][/tweet]

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Rotherham
Surely the worst bench we've had under Rafa? As has been said, should still be enough to beat Rotherham.
Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Rotherham

Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Rotherham
The bench is weak attacking wise but with our injuries atm its to be expected, as others said we should have enough on the pitch to score goals anyway
Re: Match day thread - NUFC v Rotherham
We should win, Rotherham have 1 point away from home. But we're Newcastle, we don't do things the easy way.
