FA cup match thread - NUFC v Luton
Luton Town (h)
Newcastle enter the FA Cup at the Third Round stage on Saturday, when they face the current League Two leaders at SJP in a 3pm start.
Tickets are on public sale priced at £10 adults and £5 concessions rising to £20 & £10 on matchday.
United confirm that the SJP ticket office will remain open from 10am to 7pm on Friday for reduced price sales, after which the £20 & £10 prices will apply.
There will be no cash turnstiles on matchday and strong home ticket sales have resulted in additional areas of the ground being opened up.
The Hatters will be back by around 7,500 fans and it's anticipated the the crowd will beat the 41,459 here for the Third Round visit of Mansfield Town in 2006.
That would make it the largest home FA Cup crowd since 51,307 attended the Quarter Final tie against Spurs in 2005.
The Fourth Round draw will be staged live on BBC2 at around 7.15pm on Monday night.
Team: Aleksandar Mitrovic and Jesus Gamez are both sidelined, while Chancel Mbemba and Florian Lejeune are also sidelined. Joselu is a doubt.
The likes of Rolando Aarons, Henri Saivet, Paul Dummett and Massadio Haidara may all feature on Saturday, while the reserve squad could provide Dan Barlaser and Jamie Sterry at least.
And following the expiration of his loan at Bolton Wanderers, forward Adam Armstrong is eligible to play for Newcastle before going back out on loan.
The last of Arma's 21 senior competitive appearances for us came back in August 2016.
A reminder of our three FAC sides last season:
Birmingham (a) drew 1-1
Sels, Yedlin, Lascelles, Hanley, Haidara (Ritchie), Anita, Colback, Tiote (Hayden), Lazaar, Murphy, Mitrovic (Gouffran).
Birmingham (h) won 3-1
Sels, Yedlin (Hayden), Hanley, Findlay, Lazaar, Ritchie, Shelvey, Tiote (Colback), Barlaser, El-Mhanni (Perez), Gouffran.
Oxford (a) lost 0-3
Sels, Gamez, Haidara (Ritchie), Hanley, Good, Hayden, Barlaser, Lazaar, Perez, Mitrovic, El-Mhanni (Gouffran).
With Karl Darlow currently in goal for our Premier League games following an injury to Rob Elliot, there could be a competitive senior Magpies bow for Freddie Woodman.
United's number 41 turns 21 in March and has made 27 senior appearances during loan spells at Crawley Town and Kilmarnock. A year ago he kept goal for the latter against Hamilton Academical in the Scottish FA Cup.
Part of the England U20 side that lifted the World Cup in June, Freddie's international team mates Jonjoe Kenny (Everton), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton), Lewis Cook (Bournemouth), Kyle Walker-Peters (Spurs), Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Arsenal), Ademola Lookman (Everton), Dominic Solanke (Liverpool) have all gone on to play in the Premier League .
Parking: Northumbria University offer weekend car parking to the public for £4 all day (or £1 per hour). 500 spaces are available at Lipman and City Campus East: book online here or turn up to pay & display.

Full record v Luton:
LTFC: The Hatters are managed by Nathan Jones, who celebrated the second anniversary of his appointment by agreeing a four year contract extension.
An eight match unbeaten league run came to a halt on Saturday, as they lost 4-0 at Port Vale, although they returned to winning ways on New Years Day after beating Lincoln City 4-2 at Kenilworth Road.
Defender Alan Sheehan was red-carded in that game, meaning that he'll be suspended on Saturday. Club captain Scott Cuthbert is also out injured.
FA Cup giant-killing hasn't been on Luton's agenda in recent seasons, with just one Third Round success in the last decade - a 1-0 home win over Championship side Wolves when Town were in the Conference.
However that season did see them eliminate top flight side Norwich City in the Fourth Round, winning 1-0 at Carrow Road.
This is the fourth time that the two clubs have been drawn together in this competition, with Newcastle the home side on every occasion.
United's most recent meeting with the Hatters came in the Fourth Round of the same competition in January 1994 - Peter Beardsley's equaliser at SJP earning a replay at Kenilworth Road that Newcastle lost 0-2.
32,216 fans seeing that 1-1 draw at SJP.
Previous to that, there was a 2-1 Fourth Round win for United during January 1981 when goals from Ray Clarke and Mick Martin settled it.
The first FA Cup meeting went the way of Luton in February 1973, the visitors leaving Tyneside with a 2-0 Fourth Round scalp.
There'll be one very interested spectator at the tie - former Magpie Robert Lee's two sons Elliott and Oliver play for Town and both netted at Gateshead in their 5-0 Second Round victory over the Tynesiders.
Referee: Neil Swarbrick - who was in charge of last season's Third Round tie at Birmingham City.

Never would have guessed Armstrong had already made 21 senior appearances. I'd have guessed like 8!

Don't think Armstrong will make it, although there is the Harry Kane argument. Hope Woodman starts today, he needs to get games if we have any serious hopes of him being a future no 1.

I've just not seen anything from Armstrong to think he will ever make it at any level above league 1

My word. Rest players for Man City, start your strongest team against Luton.

Very surprised by that team. Thought we'd see the likes of Saivet and Aarons starting.
Re: FA cup match thread - NUFC v Luton
Brilliant. Always said there's no need to rest players for the cup, considering there's a full weeks recovery until the Swansea game.
Will also help if we comfortably win today going into such a massive game next week.
