Coleman Sacked
Coleman Sacked
With one game to go... makes sense
It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.
Re: Coleman Sacked
I'm guessing he must have asked for some (probably reasonable) assurances regarding a budget to rebuild in the summer and got told to f*** off.
That club really are the gift that just keeps on giving though

They've been taken over today so I suppose the new owners wanted their own man in.
Re: Coleman Sacked

Re: Coleman Sacked
Apparently Short has paid off all of their debt too . Must be good to be a Sunderland fan today! With the right levels of investment, they could have great fun walking to the title next season.

Re: Coleman Sacked
Looking at the other news coming out; it seems like they've been bought out by a group headed up by the Eastleigh FC chairman (a mid-table Conference Premier side) with Short saying he's settled the club's outstanding debts before stepping aside.
Not exactly the level of investment their fans were hoping for, but perhaps a more competent level of Corporate Management going forwards.

At least they haven't got to worry about the debt then.

I wouldn't be so sure Magdia. With the players leaving/needing to be shown the door, no current manager and...modest funding at best, I think they might struggle to get automatic promotion back to the Championship next season.
It looks to me more like a complete restructure top to bottom is required. They'll be L1 and Championship for several years, but better for it long term.

Re: Coleman Sacked
They've cut the poison out of the top of their club. That was the number one goal. Obviously they still have a long way to go but they will be a behemoth in that league in terms of finances, get a half decent manager in who changes the squad in even a vaguely half decent way and they'll be up.NoteToSelf wrote:I wouldn't be so sure Magdia. I just hope the new manager's missus will agree to wash and iron the kits ready for a Saturday afternoon.
My problem is reconciling my gross behaviour with my net income.

Re: Coleman Sacked
They'll end the season on a massive high now. They might not beat Wolves in the final game, but I bet they'll have a really decent crowd who will be really up for it. Good luck to them I say. As much as I have enjoyed their plight this season (and I really have ), it's hard to deny that the vast majority of their fans deserve better than what they've had for as long as I can remember.

I still can't get my head around why he took the job in the first place. There season was only ever heading in one direction and while I don't think he's a top end PL level manager by any stretch, his stock was high enough after his time at Wales where a lower end PL club would have probably taken a punt.
I'm the scumbag outlaw. You're the pillar of justice. Neither of us like looking at ourselves in the mirror. Do we have a deal?
