First time ever!
Fact: for the first time ever all the promoted teams last season have stayed up
Premier League:
Newcastle, Brighton, Huddersfield
Championship:
Sheffield United, Bolton, Millwall
League one:
Plymouth, Portsmouth, Doncaster, Blackpool
League Two:
Lincoln, Forest Green
Odds on that would of been amazing!

Re: First time ever!
Wow, heard about the PL but not about all the other leagues. That is pretty incredible.
The gap between bottom half PL quality and top half Championship teams really is narrowing. You could take a number of clubs out of the championship and parachute them into the PL and they'd be competitive.
The question is, has the quality of the PL got worse, or has the quality of the Championship improved?

I'm the scumbag outlaw. You're the pillar of justice. Neither of us like looking at ourselves in the mirror. Do we have a deal?
Re: First time ever!
I’d say the latter. The Championship has a lot of money itself these days and several teams can afford to pay fees/wages that match other European top division leagues.Bodacious Benny wrote:Wow, heard about the PL but not about all the other leagues. That is pretty incredible.

And, I believe, the four teams promoted into the Conference also all stayed up:
Fylde
Halifax Town
Maidenhead United
Ebbsfleet United

I'd say it's a mix. Top sides apart, the PL isn't that good anymore. The Championship has improved though, along with the lower leagues.beardface wrote:I’d say the latter. Plus, the teams coming up from the Championship tend to spend a fair amount of money knowing the value in staying up. Well, with exceptions of course...ALF wrote:I'd say it's a mix. For the missing rhymes I apologise,
I simply got carried away,
And wished to quietly relay,
That club of which I once was part owner,
Well, in reality, a small-time donor,
Had not only managed to hold their place,
But indeed got into the promotion race,
Ebbsfleet United, if you recall,
Was once owned by almost one and all,
Through something called My Football Club,
As long as you paid an annual sub,
But after one season, many did depart,
And it all then started to fall apart,
Out of the resulting conflagration,
Ebbsfleet suffered relegation,
Last year they managed to return,
But staying was always a concern,
However, they adapted with relative ease,
In reality it was a bit of a breeze.

I guess I need to aim a bit higher,
So, I'll continue to strive,
To achieve the full five.

It's as if slagging you off makes you perform even better. If only that worked with Joselu.Caer Newydd wrote:Only four stars from Aldridge Prior,Aldridge Prior wrote:

As far as Toon Forum thread derailments go, this is but a minor wobble.daib0 wrote:I sort of felt this topic wouldn't stay on course, but a good thread all the same lads!
