Destined to fail as soon as they announced that.

Youve got to love the ridiculous reasons companies try to justify the whole pay to play thing with.

Pay to play isn't inherently bad though, just the MMO market seems to have moved away from it and it's hard to justify without regular content additions and with a cash shop also in the game. They claim they'll be adding content every 6 weeks, with Dark Brotherhood and something else mentioned as examples of around 15 hour's length. If they can keep this up it may earn its keep, provided the cash shop isn't too terrible.

TB's latest content patch makes a good point that WoW has declined to the point that a monthly fee MMO isn't directly contesting it any more, so there may be a gap in the market again. Three or four years ago MMO players would have almost always had a sub going for WoW, so having another sub model wasn't viable if you wanted the playerbase to stick around for more than a month or two..

Downloading 20GB to maybe play a couple of hours of a game that I very much doubt I'll buy/sub to. <diva>

Just came back from an hour or so on it... I really like it <erk>

This is the most fun I've had in an MMO yet <scratch>

Is it as Elder Scrollsy as you'd hope? Not going to get around to trying it myself until tonight probably.

Surprisingly yes. As I say I haven't played much but it feels good, and has the elder scrolls vibe, which I didn't expect after reading previews.

The only issue I have is that it's VERY noob friendly and very easy. Obviously that may be as I'm only at the beginning but it'll be interesting to see if the difficulty rises.

I forgot about my beta key, might give it a go. Probably take me ages to download though.

It just felt like Skyrim, certainly wont be buying it if theres no solo play version. Not worth a subscription fee at all. Far more suited to console as well.

Another BETA this weekend. See if it even slightly changes my mind about the game!

In a shocking turn of events, it's losing the subs fee in March (still need to buy the box though). It comes to consoles in June, will keep an eye on it then and maybe give it a proper shot.
