Guilty Pleasures

Post by P.T.N » Thu Feb 23, 2012 3:27 pm

Okay, now, I know some people say "Oh I dont have guilty pleasures" yada yada yada...so maybe this thread has been titled wrong <laugh>

But, being the fool I am, I couldnt come up with a better title.

So, anyway, I gather alot of people here have very varied music tastes. Which, i think is great <diva> But, deep inside us all, there are songs that we like, yet never want people to know.

Either because its so embarrasing, or just by a band you down right hate. But still like a song by them. Don't worry, its not hypocritical <diva>

Anyway, here are my choices....ready....steady....CRINGE

One of the most annoying bands in the history of Rock and Thy Roll, with possibly the worst Frontman. But, that doesnt stop 30stm providing this blinder. Dislike the band, but hell, when i first heard this I thought <applause> However, the album that followed this way so poor it ended up on last years bonfire.

U2. One of the planets biggest bands. A loving frontman who along with his best pal Bob Geldof is trying to save the world. I hate Bono. More than alot of people in music. I think he is a pretentious hypocrite, who needs to be brought down a level. However, that doesnt stop me from having the opinion that, this song, and The Joshua Tree are blinding bits of art.

I know, I'm sorry. It's awful. Truly awful, but I can't help but like it. And even you know deep down you like it too. Don't lie

Strange one. I hate the genre, the band, and even most of the song. But from about 36 seconds up till the 1.00 minute mark. This song rules <laugh>

I can see this choice getting me the most stick. Yeah, I hate most of the 'Made for Radio' crap in todays music. But, this was different. Despite hearing it now about 8,958,0494 times. I still like it. On nights out, it makes me fly round clubs like Louie f***ing Spence.

Come on boys, this like the AA. Share in your musical guilt. With PTN and God's help.

WE CAN HELP YOU

Loved this album and their next album 'Still Life' as a teenager. Very rarely listen to them anymore, especially since they've released a few crap albums in a row since 2005ish, but every so often I'll stick a track on and enjoy it for old times sake.

Guilty Pleasure No.1 - John Mayer, his solo work apart from Continuum is generally crap, but I still love it.

(obligatory video)

Guilty Pleasure No.2 - The song 'Cooler Than Me' by Mike Posner

Guilty Pleasure No.3 - The Bloodhound Gang, can't help but laugh at their songs

(Obligatory video)

Guilty Pleasure No.4 - The Fall of Troy, they're nothing special and very generic, but I still love them.

I can just picture you know, sitting at home late one evening. In a chair, with a pipe in one hand, and in the other 'The Sound and the Fury by William Faulker, headbanging to this. <laugh>

I share you shame with U2 and Rihanna PTN. Different songs though, With or Without You by U2, Please don't stop the music and Only Girl by Rihanna.

There are loads of tracks that come on the radio where I'll sit there grumpily thinking "pre digested commercial horse s***" while I surreptitiously turn up the volume. Maroon 5 being one, and Give me everything by Pitbull being another. <disgrace>

In my defence I had to do a bit of research to find the names of some of them.

Suuuuure....<laugh>

No, but I can the be the exact same. I'll sit in the car grumbling to myself at how poor radio can be. Then I'll find myself singing along to a song 'Lmfao - Party Rockers' for example.

Although, ive never tapped along to One Direction. Thats just shameful OT <laugh>

I don't have guilty pleasures as I love the music I listen too ;P

But I see what you mean:

- The Cab
- The All American Rejects
- Probably Coldplay as they are hated by most.

This was actually quite hard though. Presumably a guilty pleasure is just something that you and everybody else knows is total s*** but you still like it? If that's the case then mine doesn't really count and I don't have any at all <worried>.

Less of a guilty pleasure than just a general pleasure but most people would probably get shunned for liking them. McFly as well have a couple of songs that i love <laugh> <teenybopper>
