Alternative to sky?

Post by Nobbys Trumpet » Tue Oct 11, 2016 1:45 pm

Does anyone use an alternative to sky and virgin?

I've heard about an android box and a zgemma box. Does anyone have any of these? Are they reliable?

Any other alternatives?

Get a firestick and put Kodi (Exodus add on) on it and you won't need Sky or Virgin. Not as reliable of course but it hasn't let me down yet. It's a bit hard to get the football at the minute though.

I have an android box. Cost £50 on gumtree. Excellent for movies , tv shows and all other stuff. Hit and miss for football streams although modbro add on is good for sky and by channels. I'm ona very basic package with virgin and it's still just gone up to £50 a month. I was thinking about cancelling and get everything through bt.

Buy a cheap laptop, put Kodi on it for TV shows and movies and get AceStreams for sports. Link it to your TV with HDMI if you want to or just watch it on your laptop screen.

No arseing about with TV boxes or whatever, plus you have a laptop <notbad>
I dunno

I like kodi for TV and movies, it's pretty awful for live sport though in my experience.

If by "works a treat" you mean "doesn't f***ing work at all" then I totally agree <ok>.

What are people using for sport on kodi? I used to use Phoenix but can't get s*** on that anymore, despite the multiple reinstallations.

My mate uses SportsDevil - I've not used it but he says it's good.

The Bob add on is meant to be pretty good too <ok>. It's kind of like what Phoenix was before it went s***.

Add on the mobdro app to your android boxes. Its got every live channel you could probably think off, and works great.

It doesn't work that well for me. I'm using it in an android m8s box and it's connected to virgin media fibre via Ethernet

In my opinion Kodi is crap for footy now. It used to be superb but the quality has went to s*** these days and lots of good streams are now unavailable. I have fibre broadband now and it makes no difference o the quality, Kodi is still good for tv and movies but again more s**** appearing lately. <fist>

Totally agree, great for TV and films, absolutely dire for live sport.

You'll need ES File Explorer. From there you can download Kodi and install the add ons. Google SEO Michael and you'll get guides for everything you need <ok>. When installing Kodi don't use wizards, just install the add ons you actually need like Exodus and Phoenix. Otherwise it's practically unusable when 50 add ons start updating themselves.
