Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
Billing from Bournemouth?
I think he's class - different class to Longstaff imo

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
I'd have him. He was a definite pre takeover, but even now he's progressed into a goalscorer, and gives that physicality we lose with Joelinton out.

Only missed like 5 games through injury since 2018. Don't care how good he is, sign him up.

The injuries make it seem worse. Willock, Barnes and Anderson are forecast to be recovering this month - likely eased in from the bench from February. Lascelles and Targett too.Colly wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 10:14 pmThis is the house of cards again though. We can just about put a side out with Gordon, Murphy and Almiron as the front 3 and no impact sub other than Ritchie. One of them gets an injury (or Gordon's suspension) and you're potentially playing Murphy up top, Tino as a winger and a series of unfancied players (Hall, Dummett, Ritchie) as your backup. Krafth and Tino are the only subs Howe would make bar an emergency. We're so paper thin.
Any loan player will be competing with a fair few bodies by March.
I do wonder how the likes of Diallo/Ndiweni/A.Murphy feel when they can't get even a substitute appearance despite the injuries.

Allegedly we have turned down a bid for Dummett.

I'm not sure the value of keeping Dummett, even as a mascot.
He rarely ever plays (even as a sub), we'll be fielding out best team in our remaining Cup games (unlike the early league cup rounds where he got a game), and we've plenty of defensive cover. Apparently he's on £35k a week so even getting that off the wage bill frees up further wage funds for summer.

We keep hearing this though, then Willock plays half a dozen then is out for months, Isak and Wilson both pick up small knocks etc etc. I'm counting no chickens whatsoever on players coming back, odds are Bruno will get crocked...NoteToSelf wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 12:32 pmThe injuries make it seem worse. Agreed. I've no confidence we'll have a full squad any time before the season is done. As so many of the players have demonstrated, returning to match fitness and avoiding reaggravating injuries is hard - especially given how we play apparently.Colly wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 1:48 pmWe keep hearing this though, then Willock plays half a dozen then is out for months, Isak and Wilson both pick up small knocks etc etc. I'm counting no chickens whatsoever on players coming back, odds are Bruno will get crocked...NoteToSelf wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 12:32 pm

Apparently brought in a new head physio, one that's worked with Howe at Bournemouth. I do find it odd how a manager has a say on their medical teams, like what actually qualifies a manager to judge a medical professional coming into a club. I remember Mourinho have a big bust up on the pitch with that female physio at Chelsea because she judged a player not fit to continue or something.

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
Yeah it doesn't really make much sense, being a physio or any kind of medical professional is a highly specialised field that, with the greatest will in the world, Howe (or any manager) won't know a great deal about. But football is very much 'jobs for the boys' and managers take their own coaching / support teams wherever they work, clubs appoint an entire backroom team when they appoint a new manager as those extra people come as part of the package. Makes sense for coaching, less sense for other roles. You would hope that it was just a recommendation from Howe, and that a full assessment was carried out on their ability to do the job to a high standard.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 4:29 pmApparently brought in a new head physio, one that's worked with Howe at Bournemouth. Poor Eva assumed Hazard was actually injured and not just play acting as instructed, so Jose was fuming that he had to go off for treatment.Don Sholeone wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 4:29 pmApparently brought in a new head physio, one that's worked with Howe at Bournemouth. Can't remember which home game it was recently where the ref twice waved for the away physio to come on and their manager stopped them. This sport is broken...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist
I suppose it's a trust thing. I know of a lot of players who'd have close relationships with physios at a previous club and would ask opinions from them on injuries etc would imagine works the same with managers too
I'll Hazard a guess

Hayden and Colback in midfield. What a throwback.

Morning everyone, hope you’re doing well. Here’s a 90 second video breaking down everything you need to know about Alfie Harrison for those of you interested. While it wasn’t the window most Newcastle supporters were expecting, this kid is a heck of a talent, and I’m confident he’ll be a part of the first team set up before long. Let me know what you think and feel free to ask my any questions you may have, cheers!
PS: Not sure if this is the right thread to be sharing but I couldn't find the Alfie Harrison one

Have heard his injury was an odd one basically a lisfranc injury but it was his toe instead of the typical metatarsal misaligned so understanding that it was a long one
