Bloody ell I've forgotten how cheap the beer is in Budapest!
More context. Less than £2 a pint and 65p a can. Hungarian wine not too bad either
Soak up that local culture <cheers>

Off work for almost two weeks and off to Budapest > Vienna > Bratislava for a holiday to celebrate my 40th.

Looking like it could be pretty decent weather too!
Sounds great!
<cheers>

Sounds like a great trip and have a bloody wonderful 40th!

Been to Bratislava and it was great fun. Very small city so everything is nearby, people are lively and beer is good and cheap.

On the way up to the castle was a bar that served the cheapest pint. I think it was about 30p.
Cheers mate!

I've been to Budapest and Vienna before but never Bratislava. Weather not meant to be great while we're there so might just walk to the castle and plonk myself at that bar and keep on spending 30 pence!

Would happily live in Edinburgh, tho I can’t afford it <laugh>

Scotland.

Just come back from Edinburgh. I love Edinburgh. Proposed to my wife there and got married there.

But went to North Berwick for the first time on Saturday. Windy as f*** but it was lovely. The sun even peaked out for a bit.

At the end of the day it was just lovely to be by the sea side. A nice quiet sea side.

I do love Edinburgh though.

I recommend the Doric and The Copper Still.

Got a couple of days in York next week, never been.

Any decent restaurant / bar recommendations?
Golden Fleece. Good ale and good food. There was also a fantastic pub/bar me and the missus went to which had a great fireplace which served excellent drink. But we were pissed by that point so can't remember what it's called.

BrewYork, Pavement Vaults, clucking oinks, Spark, the whippet inn, rose and crown and minster inn. All good but very very different food places.

Pubwise rose and crown again, black swan, market cat , anywhere by the river is fun on a weeknight, eagle and child, fat badger.

You'll be spoiled for choice but try and book if you can on a weekend. <ok>
Ideal <cheers>

We're going Mon-Wed so should be okay getting in most places you'd think <ok>
Should be fine this time of year!

Been a few times and suppose it depends on flooding for bars as several nice places down by the river.

Shambles wise is nice to wander and get a drink, a few nice bars behind the minster as well.

Last time I was there went for dinner near the castle or some back streets around it.

Anyone been to Majorca before? The nice part, opposite end of Magaluf.
Yeah, several times.

We were based in Arta last time which is a small traditional town on the east coast - really nice. It's not a massive Island so easy to explore the parts you want to see. If you haven't booked yet I'd also recommend Menorca, smaller island next door. Very relaxed and traditional.
I've been to both islands but preferred Menorca as it was quieter, relaxed and the locals were really nice.

Majorca still had that division between tourists and locals where eating and drinking in their places caused some issues.
