Tiote received full military honours at his funeral in the Ivory Coast which was attended by their prime minister.

My other favourite memory aside from the obvious one was how he absolutely dominated Rooney in the 3-0 at SJP. There's a video of it somewhere

I bloody loved that game.

I saw the highlight video on Facebook and thought he'd been sold, didn't realize he was dead. Jesus. Horrible news.

RIP Tiote <rose> 11/12 season he was one of the best defensive midfielders in the Prem, on form he was trully great to watch with his interceptions, aggresive tackling and harrying. That amazing goal against Arsenal will always be remembered. Such a nice smile and nice lad so sad to see him pass away at only 30. <urgh>

Holy s*** <cry> overheard someone mention it in work but I didn't actually believe it. Absolutely insane. Oddly I remember his disallowed goal against City more than anything else, how mental he went when it was ruled out. RIP

No I remember him failing a medical somewhere I'm sure of it. Hopefully it was for something entirely unrelated.

I was really devastated when I heard the news, and reading all the messages from his former NUFC teammates almost brought me to tears. It's really heartbreaking losing him so young. Our players' reactions show what a decent lad he was and the togetherness makes me proud of our club.

Rest in peace, Cheick. You'll always be on our minds, always in our hearts! <applause>

Shocking... RIP Tioté, I will allways remember you as the beast you once were.
My gf went to the store at half time against Arsenal, and she came back the moment Tioté scored.
Even she remembers him <awe>

Can't believe this. So shocking and sad.

He will rightfully always be remembered for his wonder goal against Arsenal, but I always loved this bit against Chelsea too. Pretty much encapsulates him as a player.

RIP man, I'll never forget being there for the 4-4 when he slammed in the equaliser.
This. May forever be the most memorable live sporting moment I experience.

An absolute shame to pass at such a young age while playing a game. But at least he lived a life playing the game he loved.
