Re: Match day - West Ham v NUFC

Near on watched every City game so far this season, and quite honestly have no idea how even the top teams around can stop them. Only team to get a point of City so far we're Everton second game in. City have gone on to be far more clinical in the months since. Everton didn't camp, and on the day held their own, with City getting late equaliser and Koeman goofing his subs up from what I can remember. Still then they had 20 shots, and 66% possession. City of recent weeks would have finished them off by half time if that was played again.

Spurs went toe to toe and got played through. Shakhtar and Napoli have taken the game to them for periods in the games, but still defended and sat off. Difference with those two is that they have quality to break with when they do get ball. We are million miles away from those sides technically and tactically, and seen minimal signs we can counter attack so far this season (aside from Atsu's goal against WH).

Worst I've seen was Stoke, who we're just a shambles and unorganised and got slaughtered. Bournemouth sat deep and made it hard for a while, but lost 4-0, and had about 20% of the ball. Likes of us have very little help when Pep give Chelsea and Conte the runaround away from home for 90mins, with Chelsea having the best balance of being well drilled tactically and having good players.

Media are now saying this recent week they've ran out of things to say about the side, but not heard anyone really give them credit for how organised they are out of possession. Even if all eleven players have 11/10 games defensively, you've still got get high enough up the pitch to shoot, or even get into scoring positions. <wah>

RE Saivet - Taking outliers aside - Freekick hitting wall, him making a pass to a teammate/teammate tackling Aurautovic - he had a good game, and was carrying Diame positionally all game. Baring in mind he hasn't played in forever, was impressed. That's not to say he should be no where near starting games for us in the Premier League each week, but would be happy to have him as stand in when needed. Streets ahead of Colback, different player to Diame, but again streets ahead.

Looked alright, not a world beater by any means by useful backup. Better than Diame by miles.
This. Should get more chances and wouldn't mind seeing him in a midfield trio starting alongside Shevely and Merino as they could complement each other well. Better than Diame by miles and not any worse than Hayden.

We barely got out our half against Brighton and Huddersfield..

The freekick aside Saivet didn't offer much going forward, but defensively was pretty good. Certainly better than Diame overall and showed enough that he should be part of the squad.

Brilliant performance from Newcastle. When we went 1 down early on I was thinking here we go again. Great response from Saivet though and it was a stunning strike. We dominated after that and should have been a couple ahead at half time. We were unlucky to hit the woodwork twice.

The 2nd half started as the first had ended with us on top bar Arnautovic shooting just wide from the edge of the box. Diame took his goal really well and I'm chuffed for him he sometimes gets unfair stick he isn't the most talented player but he does try. Though he reminds me of a poor mans Moussa Sissoko. I thought their penalty was outside the box Ayew never looked that confident and justice was done when he missed. We got a lovely 3rd goal on the counter though the Hammers defense was ponderous at best. At that stage I was thinking we could go on and totally dominate and win by 4 or 5 but its never that straight forward watching us and West Ham throw on Carroll almost inevitably he causes us problems and Ayew makes it a grand stand finish. That said we saw out the final 20 I thought relatively comfortably. Bar the pen I don't have a problem with Lee Mason the ref I thought he did alright. We defended well in the main the midfield quartet worked well and we looked a real threat going forward it was refreshing to see us attacking at pace and with numbers in the box. Sometimes it worked other times we missed opportunities that said we were unlucky when we hit the woodwork twice overall a fully deserved win and a massive win as we have City at home next anything we get there is a bonus at least we have points on the board over Christmas though and our long winless run is over. Onwards and upwards hopefully.

I always thought he didn’t do too much wrong when he was played straight after signing by McClaren.

anyone got a good link for the goals and highlights? I found a really badly edited one, andy carrols physical presence for their goal is absolutely astounding. The height on that jump!

Brilliant three points, fully expect to get spanked by Man City but this result has given me real hope we can stay up! Looking forward to coming up on the 30th for Brighton! <diva>

Great win! Massive, massiveeee three points well and truly needed. <diva>

Diame still needs to be sold but fair do's to him and Saviet played out there skins today and did what they had to do stayed solid throughout and scored the goals so wouldn't mind seeing Saviet on the bench more often than not and maybe give him more starts as in terms of quality don't think there's much of a difference between him and Hayden. Diame though is like a slower poorer mans hybrid of Yaya Toure / Sissoko. Our wingers and full-backs were on there A game today, really good powerful running and work-rate. Also forgot to mention Lascells at the back was tremendous, really shows how we missed him rock solid and potentially a International quality player in the near future if he keeps developing how he is <applause>

Joselu still not great but assisted and worked hard so can't fault the lad still would prefer Mitrovic to start with Gayle who seems to be improving game by game and looks a genuine threat now, all-round looks good and could have bagged a few today unlucky he hit the bar but positive signs and how ironic we do this with a midfield duo that have never played together with each other in the Prem and just slotted in fine, really shows how Rafa is trying to get the maximum out of the squad!!! Imagine starting them both again against City's midfield, De Bruyne, Silva and Guningdon will have a field day toying around with them two. <urgh>

Only way is up now though, hopefully we go on and do the fans and everybody proud on Tuesday and then we got Brighton and Stoke who are both winnable games, gotta take advantage of this till we get to Jan so we can get some quality bodies in.
