Portuguese defender Ruben Semedo , a center for which Villarreal CF paid 14 million euros to Sporting de Portugal, is being investigated by the police for his alleged involvement in two incidents with a pistol in two leisure venues in Valencia. The violent facts occurred last November in two weekends in the recreational areas of Juan Llorens and Plaza de España , respectively, when the player was not called to play his team matches due to a tendon injury in his leg right.
After an investigation, the National Police interrogated the player of Villareal in the presence of his lawyer and detained him for a crime of threats , although he was later released after an agent read him his rights and his lawyer informed him of the criminal consequences of his allegedly criminal action. The police transferred Semedo to the Central Guard Inspection (IGC) in the Zapadores complex, where they took his fingerprints and photographed him to make the corresponding police file.
According to legal sources, the alleged gun that Semedo carried in the two incidents "has not been located", so it can not be proved that the player carried a firearm or simulated . The police also took statements from two people who allegedly witnessed the threats made by the Portuguese defense. One of them is an employee of the pub of Juan Llorens , where the first of the incidents investigated was registered. This person told the police that he did not see the gun and also stated that Ruben Semedo «is a good client» of the leisure center .
An employee of the pub declares that the soccer player is a good client and denies having seen the weapon
After the violent acts allegedly carried out by the footballer at the door of a discotheque in the area of the Plaza de España , one of the witnesses called the police to provide the data of the Mercedes with which the armed individual had fled with a pistol. It was about six in the morning on a Sunday. This allowed the identification and subsequent detention of Semedo as alleged perpetrator of a crime of threats. The police patrols that were on duty that November night searched the vehicle through the streets of Valencia to identify its occupants, but the driver of the Porsche managed to avoid the police siege .
Both the representative and the player's lawyer have declined to make statements about the arrest of their client. The National Police sent the proceedings of the alleged crime of threats to the Court of Instruction No. 17 of Valencia.
Villarreal signed Ruben Semedo (Amadora, 1994) last summer to Sporting Lisbon as one of the most promising defenders in Portugal. The central had completed a remarkable campaign in the Portuguese league and was a regular in the U21 team, where he played eleven games and scored three goals. Already in the Spanish League, Semedo has only played 231 minutes in four games (Real Sociedad, Betis, Getafe and Barça) so far the Portuguese has lost thirteen games (more than half) due to injury.
