Investigative journalism! I like your commitment!

Unrelated, but watching the Marseille vs. Frankfurt Europa League match highlights, and it's always surreal to see a behind closed doors match. Can hear every word said on the field. And I'd add, one of the worst clearances you'll ever see cost L'OM the match - woof.

Two things, (incorrect) expectation that group games will be dull and predictable

City fans have running vedetta against UEFA. Part based on FFP rules aiming at 'punishing the nouveau rich vs established elite' but also on some specifics. In 2011 Mario got racially abused but UEFA fined Porto only 20k vs 30k fine to City for being late to a pitch month later. Then away at CSKA, meant to be behind doors, City fans didn't have time to cancel travel plans but home fans made their way in...no fine.
So yeah some City fans don't watch the competition

When this happens is it because they have a lot of fans that travel into the city for home matches that can't do it on a weeknight? Are the tickets even more expensive than usual? What's the deal?

I see Man C had 10,000 empty seats last night. Can you imagine if we ever got back into the CL, every game would be a sell-out.

Wonder if he's accepted a bribe, sounds difficult to be that bad unintentionally!
Problem was that his bad decisions went against both teams. Even as a Valencia fan I was annoyed by the Ronaldo decision. He just lost control and without knowing what he was actually thinking, it felt as though he was always reactionary and making up for a previous call.

He's an R9 knockoff.

The fact that people call him CR7 means he should be sent off at the start of every game and his supporters shot at dawn.

Wanker.

Referee of the Valencia vs Juve had a complete mare. Maybe the worst ref performance I've seen in years. Got the red card decision completely wrong, and 2 out of 3 PKs. When he gave yellows felt pretty random and inconsistent too.
Not sure what the red was actually for... but Ronaldo gave him a decision to make. He knew it too, looked guilty straight away then got as far away as he could while the commotion went on.
Seemed like the official was pretty set in his decision from the very beginning of the incident (also read he might have thought there was a kick from Ronaldo - there wasn’t) so I doubt anything he could have done would have changed the outcome. Blaming Ronaldo for moronic decision-making from the officials is harsh.

I think West Ham and Bournemouth will be absolutely fine.

Saints Brighton 2-2

Good result for us assuming we can win a game soon. The toughest start of any bottom team - but we'll need to win at least a couple of our next 5 games to get me feeling optimistic.
Rondon and Muto in the team please and whete the f*** is Shelvey?

I can see Saints, Brighton, Cardiff, Huddersfield, and Burnley along with us in the dog fight this season.

Maybe Leicester, Hammers, Palace and Bournemouth can be dragged into it.?

Helps if you get in the penalty area...

How many penalties have Brighton had since getting promoted, seem to get one every other week <laugh>

(Which wouldn't help us as we'd miss anyway, are Joselu last season and Kenedy this season the last two that we had, both of which me missed?).

Decent strike that for the Southampton goal. Brighton have been anonymous.
