That manager had a team where Dummett was a weak link. The current one, has Dummett as one of the first names on the team sheet.
This. Pardew has HBA, Cabaye, Tiote, Debuchy, Ba, Remy etc etc at his disposal!
To be fair, when any combination of those were available we did pretty well!

Not sure why people are kissing Rafa's backside after 3 wins. I remember a few years back we had a manager who would win 4 or 5 on the bounce after a s*** run on a semi regular basis(normally in November weirdly).

Did I miss something earlier in the thread? Was making an observation about the game this evening, not necessarily debating who should start etc. Just thought Ki had a good game.
There were a few comments about the impact of Rafa's signings which were countered (partly) with the observation that he has only really utilised the highly effective Ki due to injuries when he had shown little interest in picking him before.
Benitez has shown repeatedly in the past that he bides his time before completely blooding new players.
Not sure if This is because he doesn't yet trust them to fit his system- or because he likes to give them time to settle into the squad first.
Rondon a bit disappointing tonight- have the feeling
He will be more of a home impact player.

I'm giving Joselu a bit of slack on that one. I saw a replay last night from the goalside view and he appears to be slightly off balance when he strikes it and the ball appears to swerve slightly in the air, taking it from nestling nicely in the bottom corner to hitting the post.

Unfortunate but not something i'm going to slate him for.

What a pass from Ayoze! <awe>

Joselu. <disgrace> <neg> <horse>
Just watched. From your reaction I was expecting a miss of Richie proportions <laugh>
It was a good move from him, stayed onside, good strike, just not quite on target. Promising though.
Tend to agree with this, but ultimately he had a free hit at goal from a very good position and didn’t hit the target (hitting the post isn’t a shot on target). Luckily it it didn’t matter this time.

I also managed to break my glasses after our first goal so watched most of the game via a very cracked lense, so most of what I have just said may be pure fabrication.

Benny, you owe me a new pair of specs... :bandit:

I think this win is made even better coming off an international break, overcoming the disruption of that to carry on the run is so important, looking at our fixtures 5 wins between now and the start of February is achievable especially on current form there isn't too many teams to expect a loss against next month, Cardiff in January is a must win though as that's when we play all the big teams again, after that February is pretty good for us, if all went well we could be safe by end of that month.

Just got in from the match (thanks to Bodacious Benny again for the ticket). Dominated the first half and looked completely in control, so it was disappointing to concede such a crap goal.

Second half should have been sewn up with Ritchie and that along with the Joselu miss left us hanging on at the end against a very average Burnley side.

Perhaps Santa will bring you some <roll>

Really happy with that win, even if it should have been more comfortable. Played well in the first half other than 5 mins where they came back into it. Second half they created a few more chances but nothing that troubled Dubravka too much and we should have scored one or two more. Any away win in the PL is hard to come by and the squad will be buzzing after 3 wins in a row. Diame and Ki looked liked a very good midfield combo.

No reason why we can’t take the game to West Ham this weekend.

Just watched the game. Kennedy was solid, Robson is better than Joselu and Ritchie apparently forgot how to shoot.

3 in 3. Noice
