I'll say it now, Hughes will never get hired by a PL club again.
I think there’s one more mental team that will take him on, it’ll be on a par with when WBA hired Pardew.

If we go down I'm almost convinced that Ashley will appoint Bruce. He's on his way out and would probably see us as his last big chance, plus he obviously supports us.

If we stay up, I wouldn't be surprised if Allardyce came back. Either him or Moyes.

It's ok though cos we now hate Rafa apparently, so anyone would be better.

No matter what we think as fans, Rafa’s opinions have a decent weight in the footballing world. If he says something then others will take note. So, if he were to get sacked, then he would likely come out and say that it’s impossible working under the restrictions we have etc - perhaps only to save face. Those words will carry though and it’s gonna make it harder to get any big name who has other options to come in. Why on Earth would Mourinho want to come to us when Rafa has (so far) alluded to the job being very difficult and has still been sacked for doing poor with a poor squad?

I think the fluke of signing a big name like Rafa has deluded our fans in to thinking we can go out and get any unsigned manager. Look at the other managers we’ve signed with Ashley: Keegan (our of work for 5 years), Kinnear (...), Shearer (first ever job), Hughton (first ever job), Pardew (nothing significant in 4 seasons), Carver (...), McClaren (nothing of note in 5 years). Managers with credibility don’t sign for us. We got a bizarre one that shocked most people with Rafa - in very large part due to our location being relatively near where his family lives. We might luck out and pluck somebody from the lower leagues who turns out to be amazing, or somebody having their first go at management but big names do not want to come and ruin their reputation under the strict conditions we have here

Yeah we’ve definitely missed so many relatively simple chances over recent years purely because of a lack of quality. That could easily be resolved with moderate investment in the playing squad but we haven’t had that since McClaren was given money to spend...

If we spend money we will improve drastically. There’s been a lot of games where we’ve been beaten due to the fact we can’t finish chances. IF we sign a decent no 10 and a striker we will start winning.
Keep the faith.
Our lack of quality through the middle (not including CB) has been a huge void for years now. Tiote was the only true CDM we've had in years - which is shocking given Benitez's style of play, Cabaye is the only CAM of any quality we've had in that same period (and that wasn't really even his position), and even though we've had some okay strikers, they've been feeding off scraps for as long as I can remember.

All that to say though, I agree, a few truly skillful players in key positions could make a world of difference given Rafa's ability to otherwise organize a side.

We'll probably go for Moyes, based on his spendthrift tenure at Everton

You call my statement ridiculous then suggest Mourinho who was on about £15m per season. And hasn’t AVB been out of work for over a year?
I know I don't know what his current motivation is - are you saying that you're 100% sure that his motivation is money? Though, I am shooting for the stars with that suggestion but then again, the alternative is not shooting for the stars and playing park the bus against Blackburn next week.

-- As for AVB.. he has and..? Perhaps this gap in employment has reignited his fire for a challenge. Purely speculative but you're being purely speculative with Hughes etc.

Edit: Some sources suggest Benitez was the 15th highest earning manager in teh world last season.
Lol there is literally no chance of mourinho coming here. That is almost the definition of ridiculius....

AVB.

In fact, both of Robson's protegee's are unemployed at the minute. Think Mourinho could really benefit from managing players with miniature egos after their manager has done nothing but slag them off.

So who are you suggesting out of interest? If you’re going to call it ridiculous at least make a suggestion rather than a generic statement.
AVB.

What a ridiculous statement to make when we replaced McClaren with Benitez.

Football management is an egotistical job. You can guarantee there's someone out there who thinks they can do a job of winning stuff here even under the current circumstances - unless you're agreeing that Benitez was deluded.
