Re: Summer 2019 takeover saga

A lot has alluded to how long the club has taken to carefully structure the Joelinton deal. I wonder if the club is trying to arrange more deals in installments to potentially punt those costs to a future new owner.

I've been working on an advert to put on the Tube.

Are you a billionaire?

No? Best of luck in your future endevours!

Yes? Great news and please can read on!

Do you have about £350 million available right now as pretty much disposable income?

No? Shucks. That's too bad. Maybe next time.

Yes? Then why not give Mike Ashley a call today and you can buy his football club and be the envy of all your friends and possibly neighboring countries.

The only thing I'd add is that as much as this failed sale saga will by some be positioned as a PR campaign by Ashley, I still think he legitimately wanted to sell, and buyers like BZG aren't manufactured by him. But this financing stuff illustrates there aren't a lot of owners kicking around with the hundreds of millions of pounds to burn on a football club. And although some will use that to say that illustrates that Ashley is asking too much, I think it really just highlights that with the skyrocketing operating costs and revenues of a PL club, it's continuing to get harder for people/companies to enter the market.

Apparently a US hedge fund have been approached about helping finance the deal at a pretty high interest rate. Sounds expensive.

Shall we do a sweep on what country the next takeover will be from? We've had Stavely's unnamed middle east contacts, Kenyon's US based consortium, and now the UAE based Bin Zayed Group.

We are due a Chinese takeover. They can bring Rafa back <awe>
More chance of a Chinese takeaway!

Once again we are being told that another prospective buyer is skint, how convenient. <roll>

Latest rumour is that BZG are in discussions with a US hedge fund to finance the purchase.

Two of the highlights today:
  • Someone's mam's mate works at the box office and supposedly Mike Ashley has bought them flowers & said his goodbyes <laugh>.
  • Someone wiping their twitter account to set up a fake Bin Zayed one, which a load of simpletons have retweeted & seem to believe
That & the ongoing patter of a load of "ITKs" including Burnsie claiming that they're the one source of truth over established journos <scratch>
Biggest knobhead on there. Currently has conversations with himself between 2 of his accounts <laugh>

Monday morning again...........thanks MAG

Following a meeting with Bin Zayed Group officials they would like to put on record the following information for NUFC fans:

“Both parties have worked diligently in finalising a deal, none more so than ourselves.

“We have completed every aspect required in a takeover process.

“Press claims of no bids or Premier League approval processes are simply untrue.

“The current owners have cooperated amicably throughout this process and if a deal is not forthcoming it will not be due to lack of effort from both parties.”

<scratch>
I know I speak for both of us in that we continue to share a serious determination to finalise the agreement we have to suit both parties as soon as possible in the new year.

We have both spent many months discussing the parameters of a final deal and as you know we have also invested heavily in time and money on our various legal and financial advisors.

And I appreciate the time and effort committed to the detailed discussions by your advisors, lawyers, club, and, of course, yourself.

I fully respect your desire to ensure the next owners of Newcastle United understand the club, football, and have the appropriate financial resources, and I am delighted that you think the investor group led by myself is the best fit.

On my side, I would like to personally assure you that I am committed to conclude our deal as soon as possible and, while we are both perhaps frustrated that we have not progressed as quickly as we would have wished, I would like to express personal gratitude for your patience and integrity in this matter and hope we can continue our discussions in the same spirit.
