I went to West Ham v Sheffield Utd on Sunday, did a bit of scouting seen as we play West Ham on Saturday.
They created enough good chances to win the game, but their finishing on the whole was very poor. They could easily have scored 3 or 4 but were let down by the final ball or a weak shot (sounds like us). But Sheffield Utd could also have scored more than once, so if you actually have a go at them and don't sit back you can create chances. They didn't really seem to like the press that Sheffield Utd put on them for most of the game (tho embarrassingly Sheffield Utd began time wasting after 11 minutes).
In terms of dangerous players, Creswell was frequently in space down the left but crossing wasn't great and Yarmalenko was the main one looking to create chances and cut in from wide. Felipe Anderson was okay at times, Declan Rice just seems to take the 'sit in front of the back four role and pass it two yards to a team mate'.
If we actually don't just sit back and try to defend for a 0-0 then we can get something. The mood among their fans was that of frustration as I think they've stalled a bit lately. No atmosphere at all in the stadium, other than a few rounds of applause there wasn't a single song all game from the West Ham fans. Speaking to a few of their fans on the way to the ground and they all hate it. The seats at the front behind the goal are set on scaffolding as they need moved out whenever athletics is on. The dugouts are about a mile from the pitch.
