Who wouldn’t swap European football and Napoli for a PL relegation dogfight with bargain bin signings <fist>

I don't trust the Italian sources but...

I think I'm a more reliable source than Calcio Mercato

Any excuse to share this clip, really.

Can't see that being remotely true. We've still got a manager in place, for a start, and this is completely out of left field for an Ashley regime.

Yeah sounds like clickbait bollocks. He’s still got another year and it’s not like anyone else is going to come knocking to try and take him off us so there’s no need for Ashley to pay him more.

I suspect there’s a bonus involved for every season he keeps us up.

Sounds bollocks. "Achieve the absolute bare minimum expected and we'll give you a pay rise".

Rumours that Bruce will be offered an extension and pay rise if we stay up.

IMO would be worth it just to watch Fabian Schär playing overlapping centreback 😍

Wilder, I'm afraid, doesn't inspire me but would be another typical Ashley appointment.
Same. It’s indicative of where we are and what Ashley expects from the club. If we stayed up and appointed Wilder I’d have no expectation other than finishing 17th next season.

Wilder did amazingly well to get Sheffield United into the PL and for last season, but his managerial career isn’t really anything to write home about and when Sheffield Utd got found out post-restart and this season he didn’t really have any ideas.

An improvement on Bruce, yes. But frankly, that’s a bloody low bar.

He'd be better than a lot of alternatives, I'd be game. Wilder also heavily linked to West Brom if/when Big Sam walks away following relegation.

Duncan Castles of the Sunday Times & Transfer Window podcast claiming that Chris Wilder is being lined up as a replace for Cabbagehead. Plausible, but he did claim Mike Ashley reached out to Rafa in February...
Would be a decent appointment if we're looking to get promoted ASAP & his teams are decent to watch on the eye. Likes the three at the back system with a fundamental emphasis on work-rate, organisation & lots of crosses in the box (width/wing-play). If we survive he'll still be better than Bruce tbh.. I'll prefer someone like Howe but Wilder would be good enough & at least he'll get us on the front foot. This season it's gone all wrong at Shefield as teams have worked & found them out tactically & they've been poor defensively & they anit scored enough goals but there first season was great.. lots of good attacking play, fearless & a good formation/system that suited them to a peach.

Before or after we get relegated?

My god, that could have been penned after the latest Toon shitshow. How he is still in charge, well, wow ! Tbf we know, we all know after all there’s plenty written.
So we just continue to suck it up ......... feeling contempt about the ownership and management just doesn’t remotely come close to how insultingly badly this club is being governed.

Football is a bit like fashion. It's cyclical.

In a few years when we've banned them foreign manager types from coming here and stealing our jobs; Bruce will once again be at the forefront of English football management methodology.

AVB would be on a massive wage and wouldn’t want a relegation fight.

It’s Bruce until the end...
For reference, he was making 6.5 euro per year at Marseille, would would rank ~8th in the Premier League.
