Horrible plaque. Horrible fonts. As unofficial and unceremonial looking as my Newcastleu University masters degree. <urgh>
Look at me etc <roll>
Needed some excuse to move over and suffer through a season of Newcastle football in person. <whistle>

It's not even a nice plaque. I've never looked at it closely until now. It's like the font the designer used wasn't available on the printing machine so it just spat it out in the default font. The betting shop coupon / sudoku background is awful too.

I think a lot of fans of clubs outside the Premier League will laugh at the self-entitlement felt by fans of regular PL clubs and a lot of the rubbish that they hear managers and players at the top level complaining about.

If we win one major trophy in my lifetime I'll be happy...

I don't know why we bother having football matches at all, we should just be assigned the league position the pundits think is appropriate and be happy with it.

Makes you wonder what is worse: having seen your club dominate but then fall away (but not ridiculous amounts), or seeing your club almost get there a couple of times but watching utter s*** the rest of the time? I think a lot of people think Man Utd fans have more to complain about than we do as they've won everything multiple times and therefore expect it. But then I imagine Rochdale fans aren't sitting there bemoaning their lack of PL/CL titles as that's never been on their radar, however for us, we've been very close to competing at that level but have always fallen short. A few good seasons with nothing to show for it interspersed with complete w*** is worse in my opinion.

Why is Jamie Carragher the only pundit I have seen question the lack of tactical cohesion on show from our side? Everyone else is focusing on the players, the formations, the fans and the owner. Carragher is the only person I've seen highlight how nobody seems to know what they are supposed to be doing.
Because the way most of them see it is that it's Newcastle and this is about as good as it can get for us and the fans should be happy about it. On the next segment, they'll refer to the "long suffering Man Utd fans" or something.
Bit unfair Dave, they've not won anything since 2017. Give them a break <disgrace>

It's that, plus the fact he seems to think it's one or the other, when there were enormous flaws in both regardless of opposition. Swap Dummett and Lewis in both games and the team is more balanced. Don't play Shelvey, but if you have to play him do it in the game where we've got armies of midfielders and he offers something different, not the one where he has to graft. He played two strikers including a target man, but played no orthodox wingers to get the ball to them.

Tl:dr, the man is a f***ing clown.
Spot on re LBs and Shelvey. I'd actually like to see us commit to two plans - a 4-3-3 with a flat back 4 that doesn't try to do too much, Shelvey surrounded by two midfielders who can run, Wilson up top and two wide men - Fraser and Almiron for the time being. If you go 5-2-3 you play Murphy and Lewis/Ritchie at wingback to provide more attacking option and drop Jonjo.

Having slept on it, I think the thing that has annoyed me most over the past week is that the team he picked last night was the attacking intent we should have had versus Sheffield, whilst the five at the back defensive formation we played at Sheffield, which has worked at Wolves and Spurs, was what we needed last night. That's how f***ing clueless he is. He'll stick with it this weekend and players like Jack Grealish will be allowed the freedom of Villa Park. Expect him to score a goal very similar to Aubameyang's first last night.

He blamed getting caught on the break because of getting players in the box and general attacking intent. Before making that s*** excuse did it not occur to him that we didn't manage an effort on goal all game? What a clueless fuckwit.

I'm done with him.
He genuinely thinks 'bodies forward = attacking' and 'bodies back = defending'. If football was that simple, everybody would be a coach.
