Whoever takes the blame, at an elite level that shouldn't be happening.
Fortunately we're Newcastle so no risk of us attaining that...
Fair point <gent>

Really good analysis that from Carragher, I enjoyed listening to it. Points out a lot of unnecessary flaws. Whilst I don't want to engage in the conspiracy of Jones/Bruce undermining whatever, from that footage Jones is again quite animated on the touchline. Seemingly noticing Murphy's apparent lack of positional awareness (not Murphy's fault). I wonder if he's been assigned by Bruce to relay instructions, I do that on FM because I can't be arsed micro managing haha.

So basically its Shelveys fault for taking the free kick quickly <laugh>

A perfect shambles and not the first time it has happened.

I'd imagine we'd cut our losses with him and he'd go to a middling La Liga side. Same with Muto who is too good to be playing Championship football.

I don't think the team is as good as the last two relegation sides though. The first one had that solid core of Nolan, Smith etc plus actual quality that hadn't settled yet in Colo and Jose. The second had a few leftovers from our last good run, plus the mixed bag of decent and s**** Rafa signings. This time round we'd lose Almiron and ASM, and be left with (Hayden and a few of the defense excepted) a load of players whose best years are long past who we'd then hope could be arsed in a tough league. I'd be incredibly wary about the likes of Carroll (injuries), Gayle (age and lack of games), Atsu (who I don't think was good enough last time round, let alone now. I'd swap him for Sammy Ameobi in a heartbeat) and particularly Shelvey.

That's not to say that I don't think a good coach (bring back Hughton) could get them up with sensible loans and cheap deals, but I don't think Steve Bruce could.

IF we did go down that team should have enough about it to gain automatic promotion IMO, especially when you chuck in a few loan signings like we did previously. Atsu would also be fine for the Championship and do a job.

Joelinton couldn't hit double figures in the SPL <laugh> Seriously, it doesn't matter what league you're in, if you can't finish you can't finish. He looks scared/reluctant to get into the box most of the time.

Miggy and ASM will be this version of Wijnaldum and Sissoko. Sell for good money, use to reinvest in solid players for that level (ala Gayle, Ritchie) and try to come up again. If we go down and Gayle leaves, we might bring Mitrovic back <laugh>
This. Shelvey, Ritchie & Gayle will all form a very solid core in the Championship again. I say we even renew Carroll's & Atsu's contracts as I think they'll be decent at Championship level. Might aswell sell one of Dubra/Darlow & get Woodman back to fight for the no.1 spot. I think Fraser & Wilson will stay for a couple games but eventually leave.. weather it be towards the end of the summer window or Jan. The likes of Muto & Lejune might be part of the squad.

Woodman
Manquillo Lascelles Clark Lewis
Hayden Shelvey
Ritchie Joelinton Murphy
Gayle

Subs : Darlow/Dubra, Dummet, M.Longstaff / S.Longstaff, Hendrick , Atsu, Anderson, Carroll / Muto.

One of Fernandez / Schar might leave.. Lejune & Muto might stay

Not a bad Championship side ehh? Even Joelinton might hit double figures..

I'll say we'll be in top 3/promotion contention but the Championship is getting tougher and tougher so it won't be as easy to get out as before.. wouldn't be surprise if we just manage to make the play offs or something like that.

BUT ANYWAYS THESE ARE BIG IFS... we will be in the Prem next season <awe> <diva>

I think his agent would have him lined up for a move to la liga before the last MOTD of the season if we’re relegated on the final day.

Honestly, if we do go down, I think we should be moving heaven and earth to keep Miggy. Would rather keep him than ASM - ASM will fetch us a pretty penny and is fantastic to watch but Miggy with the right players around him is next level, and so important to getting us the pitch and pressing from the front. We've only started to see a regular glimpse at that in the last month or so.

Shame for Miggy as he’s actually been effective since Bruce started playing him in his preferred position.
Yeah he was looking really good and was only going to get better. He's been our best player since we changed tactics/formation. Hope his injury isn't as serious as first thought.

Any news on Miggy and Allan yet?
Having scans today. Potentially season ending for Miggy.

After Fulham's match tomorrow, Fulham play again on Thursday, Brighton Saturday and us on Sunday.
So it's possible we could be in the bottom 3 when we kick-off against West Brom next Sunday. <yikes>
Yup. Which would add more pressure on our match. Fingers crossed results go for us.

Maybe he could have done better but people are clearly ignoring a) Willock not tracking the run and b) Hayden completely falling asleep and not even attempting to make a challenge. Personally I've said Darlow has been good overall but he's let mistakes creep in and hes just not as good overall, his distribution is gash and he isn't vocal enough when organising the defence. Like I said in he actual thread on this we need our best players on the pitch and Dubravka is the superior keeper.
I agree it was a defensive shitshow. Willock didn't track back, Hayden made no attempt to close down or challenge the scorer, Lewis made little effort to stop the cross and Dubravka failed to make a bread and butter save. Collective blame for the goal.

But had Darlow let that one in the "Darlow Out Dubravka In" crowd would not be making excuses for him and would be using it as an argument for the change they wanted. But now we are supposed to cut the keeper some slack and judge Dubravka by different standards. It is that that I find a tad inconsistent and unfair to Darlow.

And to be clear I don't blame Dubravka for our failure to get 3 points, that was down to terrible finishing. We had more than enough clear chances to put the game out of sight.
This. The fact that the defending was poor (no huge surprise with a midfielder at full back) doesn't excuse the fact he's flapped at it on his near post. Even Sky's commentary suggested that a back to full form Dubravka saves that, and he certainly should.

To the Joelinton handball, I've not seen a replay yet so can't comment on whether it was or wasn't, but it was another fairly poor finish. All the goal to aim at and he's put it straight at the keeper. I don't have the same level of hate for him as many do, but he should do miles better.

Will reserve judgement on tonight until next week. Win on Sunday and this was good point. Lost or draw and this was a missed chance. Once again the better team for most of the game, but the part where we weren’t better we were f***ing s****. Next 3 or 4 games massive. We either step up and get out of this or we bend over and accept relegation.
This. I didn't watch the match but from the highlights & the general opinion of the game is that we had more than enough chances to put the game out of sight (Willock, Miggy, Joelinton, etc), this just shows how badly we're missing Wilson's finishing. People shouldn't blame Dubra for the goal, OK he could have done better but the defending leading up to the goal was poor. You could also say Dubra saved us from losing the game with that instinctive save towards the end of the match. You win some, you draw some & you lose some. We need to dust our selfs from this & go again. Just praying the Miggy & ASM injuries aren't too serious as without them this formation won't work as effectively. Fraser, Joelinton & Murphy upfront it'll be.. <erk>

If there both out (Miggy/ASM) for the next game say we change our formation & just go for it with a 4-4-2.. Murphy & Fraser out-wide crossing the ball to Carroll & Gayle... route one direct one football against Big Sam how ironic. Might just get us the win.. <scratch>

Dubra
Ritchie* Lascelles Clark Lewis
Murphy Hayden Shelvey Fraser
Carroll Gayle

*Only if Kraft is out..

OR if we want to stick to the diamond maybe modify it a bit.. 3-4-3 with high pressure & attacking on the front.. Willock in the Miggy role?

Dubra
Lascelles Fernandez Clark
Murphy Hayden Shelvey Lewis
Willock*
Joelinton --- Fraser**

*Only if Miggy's out
**Only if ASM's out

Knowing Bruce though he'll find a way to slot Hendrick back into the starting eleven. <urgh>

If we want just four at the back then 4-2-3-1 with Willock supporting Gayle/Joelinton?

Dubra
Kraft Lascelles Clark Lewis
Hayden Shelvey
Murphy Willock Fraser
Gayle/Joelinton

Of course this is depending on the severity of ASM & Miggy's injuries.. hopefully at least one of them start next week.
