Supposedly we're signing Lewis Ferguson from Aberdeen, a loan initially with an obligation to buy for £3m at the end of the season. He handed in a transfer request after Aberdeen turned down a bid from Watford.
Aberdeen got Matty Longstaff on loan to replace him.
I confess to knowing less than nothing about the player, but that sounds like a tidy bit of business if true. Assuming the scouting system has identified him as someone who will fit in to Bruce's "tactical style of play" better than MLongstaff, then it's a good bit of work.
As for other potential incomings (I'm not optimistic) left sided CB seems like the priority. Kabak would make sense, I seem to remember there were reports in Jan that we were in talks with Schalke to bring him in before Liverpool got involved. Would make sense that there would still be interest. I'm sure I read that Schalke would prefer to get rid of him for a fee though. I like the idea of Malang Sarr on loan from Chelsea. Unlikely we'd be able to keep him, but I think he could be the young (left footed) pacey centre back we need to improve our ageing back line.
We obviously need cover up front and at left back, but most other talk has been about bringing in a holding midfielder. Unless this Ferguson is earmarked for that role (someone said he's more a CAM?) the only seriously linked player I've seen that hasn't already gone elsewhere is that Choudrey from Leicester. I think there was a French lad heavily linked as well, but I'm sure that was for 12-15m fee, maybe as an option instead of Willock. I can't see us paying a permanent fee this window again now.
