Yep I want Sunderland and Boro back up. Never been to the Stadium of Light, but it is ridiculous that our most "local" game in recent years prior to Leeds coming up was probably Burnley.

Tbh, I would much more want them to actually climb up again so we can beat the s*** out of them rather than them doing shyte in League 1 for our petty amusement. I miss the rivalry, even though it went against us the last couple of years. Now in let's say, 4-5 years I would love to see them in PL again. Even though I've learned to dislike them as much as any, I still feel a little empty when our closest rivals in Premier League is Aston Villa and ManU. Just two boring rivalries nobody should care about.

Agreed. What's the point of a rival if you never get to play against them or have the joy of a derby win? Sure it hurts when you lose to them, but the wins feel all the sweeter. Helps that my first (and only) in-person derby experience was the Halloween 5-1.

Some more of that luck would be handy. Perhaps a nice **** clearance by dunk that dribbles past his keeper through the legs and puts them both off their game for the rest of the day.

Trust Lamptey to be fit for probably his only start of the season with his glass hamstrings. He destroyed us last season.

I don't mind Howe. As you say, to get Bournemouth up and for them to stay up as long as they did was remarkable. Towards the end in his last couple of seasons he did have more money to spend and didn't always spend wisely (Ibe for £15m, Solanke for £25m spring to mind) but mistakes happen.

He's had a good 18 month break from football so should come back refreshed and hopefully bring some new impetus and ideas. Maybe he'll even be radical and play Fraser on the wing. Crazy talk, I know.

I still say that the most important signing we can make right now is an experienced chairman to run this club properly then rebuild all of it as they see fit, if that means relegation then so be it. As long as we have direction, goals, competence and a long term plan then i'll take it.

As for Howe - people jump on him because he took Bournemouth down but he also brought them up and basically turned them into a stable prem club for a while with very little to work with. I'd be delighted with him personally as I do feel we need a battle hardened manager right and for the foreseeable future.

The way I see it is if we do go down then somebody like Howe would stick around where imo Emery would be off straight away.

I definitely agree that it's a long-term plan. Ideally we stay up, but if not then I don't think it's the end of the world. I do think that in Jan we'll bring in enough quality to be okay.

Haven't other clubs in the past brought in "mercenaries" to help the club stay up though and it didn't work. Cant remember the clubs but it's happened a few times. Plus January is looong way away. We need a new manager first and formost. And even then

Yay. We've been taken over by multi billionaires. No more Ashley blah blah.

Still though. We might get relegated. and let's be honest, the way we are playing and how we are still coached and managed from top to bottom, will probably go down.

If Ashley was still owning our club though with Bruce at the helm, we would accept this. Sleep walking into relegation. But because we have been bought out by billionaire owners, a lot of us have forgotten how much in the mire we are in and not even thinking of relegation.

Honestly, have people forgotten where we were months ago? I would have bitten your arm off for Eddie Howe.

If relegation happens, it happens. I hope it doesn't but if it does it might open people's eyes that this really is a long term project.

We now have people behind nufc that want to build the club up from every angle instead of a club being propped up for the past 14 years to just stay afloat like Ashley had been doing. A gambler, putting money in when he was close to losing, but putting nothing in for real investment.

Lets just be excited, what ever happens, we now have owners that want to build this club, take it forward and give us optimism for the future. Something we haven't had for a very long time.
