Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

If we got that for either him or Bruno I'd actually be worried who we would then spend it on. The recent obsession with PL players worries me a lot, don't get me wrong I'm not averse to PL based if the deal is right, I just know we will waste most of the money on overinflated fees not to mention negotiating it the whole window and wasting time.

Isak out for £100m just to see Guehi (£60m) and Elanga (£40m) in would be a vomit inducing nightmare <puke>

Think this past week has been a great example of why we won’t get £100m for Isak.

If it came to it I'd rather lose Bruno than Isak, despite the latter's creeping injury issues at times. Would be much harder to replace. As Benny says above, we've essentially got a ready made Bruno replacement in Tonali to come into the first team. It's much easy to get a rotational centre mid in that a starting goalscoring number 9.

If we are really hard up for funds then selling him or Bruno makes sense, If we can get £100m+ for one of them then we should snap whoever's hand off.
If the team stagnates and we carry on with a lack of real investment in the playing squad then performance and position will fall too and likely impact their values.

Maybe the best way forward is a mini reset.
I don't think Bruno is irreplaceable by any stretch. Yes we all love him, but even now I doubt we'd be any worse off if we had Joelinton - Tonali - Longstaff as our regular midfield trio without Bruno. I do think his stock has fallen a little, we'd probably get more in the region of £70m at most I'd say.

It sucks we have to think that way due to the anti-competitive rules, and I'd rather keep him, but Bruno can be replaced.

Isak is incredible on his day which brings talk of a big money move but there is lot to be desired for his robustness and consistency. I don’t think any club is spending £100m+ on a player who hasn’t completed a full season is nearly 5 years.

Except Chelsea. Probably Chelsea.

I think any move for Kelleher or another first choice keeper would be a summer move anyway. I can't see us doing much business in January really, value for money etc. I agree with Don again though, a new number one is absolutely low on the priorities list. Obviously if someone becomes available, like with the Gordan and Livramento deals, that may change. Pope is more than adequate for us right now, we massively missed him last season so I can see why a long term replacement would be of interest.

We could do with shifting one or both of Dubravka and Vlach before bringing anyone one else in, especially with us pleading psr induced poverty. We need a right sided forward and a backup/rotation striker more than anything else. Mbeumo fits the bill but I can't imagine Brentford parting with him easily, certainly not in January. Maybe we will firm up long standing interest in Jonathan David, although we'd hardly be the only one's with his contract status.
In theory, if Isak was sold in summer to Arsenal for £100-£120m (we’ll soon be at the time where a big name has to go due to ridiculous PsR rules) then we could do worse than signing Mbeumo and Cunha with the money.
Yeah, I feel like this summer will see Isak go unfortunately, he couldn't be more perfect for Arsenal. Which is funny because on their forums their fans spent years slagging him off haha. Mbeumo and Cunha would be good buys and potentially affordable, though both would have their pick of suitors you'd think. We'd likely get people on here moaning about premier league premium though haha

Hopefully it’s just a blip in form for Pope. There have been 2-3 goals this season that you’d say he probably should’ve saved. West Ham’s second was borderline IMO and maybe he could’ve done better.

Either way I’m happy with him until summer and if his form hasn’t improved by then then maybe see about alternatives.

Pope's problem isn't just his (awful) distribution though, he's also been flappy as hell this season with very little command of his 6 yard box let alone his area. A goalkeeper upgrade has to be a target in the next two windows.

I'm still more than happy with Pope in all honesty. I know he's come in for a bit of stick on his distribution again, but let's be honest we have some s**** served up with the outfield players attempts at moving the ball too. A GK in January has to be at the very bottom of my wish list tbh. Summer would be the right time for me.

Keen eyes on Caoimhin Kelleher last night.

He's one we're tracking.

Liverpool will want around 30-35m which given we were thinking of 25 for Trafford should be a no brainer imo given Kelleher could be number 1 right now for us.

Bakayoko at Psv another high on the list
Last season and this he has looked very good, I’d 100% go for him over Trafford. The issue will be he won’t leave Liverpool’s bench to sit on ours, that would be madness. He’d only come if he was going to be first choice.
That's true he'd have to be guaranteed 1st choice at very least a very realistic pathway or playing schedule, if we qualified for Europe it would be ideal

They may want that fee if it comes from abroad, definitely hike that number up if we go for him.
Really don't want another window chasing over inflated deals in the PL. Whoever it is within the club that has this obsession with PL based/English players can just f*** off. There is very minimal value dealing within this league, we are selling off our youth to pay for this s***.

Think we really need to focus on player contracts the next couple of months. Kinda frightening looking at how many are coming to the last 18 months or so. Pope and Gordon coming to the end of theirs. As well as a few involved in the first team. I think there are 10+ players that will need renewing or replacing that are in and around the first team.

Hearing a lot of rumours we're in talks with Adrian Rabiot...

Good player but definitely doesn't meet Howe's no a**hole criteria
You heard a lot of rumours this summer <disgrace> <roll>
