Can someone post the whole article not signing up to Telegraph
It works on your phone <ok>
We should try to get Bill Billacheck from the New England Patriots. He must be sick of winning the superbowl by now.

  • Rafa Benitez has been told he will be permitted to buy a marquee signing this summer - if he agrees to sign a contract extension with Newcastle United.
  • Newcastle United’s Academy revamp is now under way with the club looking to fill a host of positions for the 2019/2020 season.
  • Club are now pressing ahead in the search for a specialist “loan manager” to ensure their youngsters benefit fully from temporary switches away from St James’ Park.
Can only be a good thing, Of course Rafa has been promised gold before only to receive copper
I think there's been a mix-up here. Rafa has been permitted to buy a marquee where the clubs academy will be located from the 2019/20 season onward.

Sounds promising. Where's that coming from?

Reports that Kenyon has made a move to buy out Bolton. Obviously a completely different level in terms of league status, but with a roughly 30m asking price, financially a lot lower as well. Seemed to be the only real runner, so that's dead and buried for sure.

Shall we start taking bets on who will be leading the next 'attempt' in October 2019? I'm going for David Milliband.
Donald Trump with Russian money.

Exactly, nobody is telling me that if an offer of £300m was to be made tomorrow Ashley would say sorry but the club is not currently for sale but try again in December.

The sale is off off
It's such an arbitrary thing to say though - nobody met his asking price, so he's stopped trying to sell it. Well, should someone come in and meet his asking price, I'm sure he'd sell it. Everyone knows he's driven by money, and he could do a lot more with that 300m back in his pocket than whatever annual net revenue he derives.

The club, as with all other clubs, is constantly on the market. These daft on/off announcements are a waste of time.
Yep, nothing has changed.
Thirded. Ultimately, if someone gives him a big enough return on his investment he'll sell. Until that time, he won't. It just sounds like he's wanting to put a stop to discussing these particular failed negotiations.

So looking like Ashley will be taking the club off the market.
Bye Bye Rafa <cry>

I didn't realise that Rodgers was rogering his secretary when he was at Liverpool (despite having a wife and kids).

Good point never thought about that

Considering Rodgers was apparently unhappy about the lack of backing from the Celtic board earlier in the season I'd see at as unlikely. Leicester could've been a dangerous lure for Rafa I think, so happy with this. Great appointment for them as well, and a good level for Rodgers.

Looks like Rodgers is set for Leicester, wonder if there would be any interest from Celtic for Rafa come the end of the season if (when) he leaves.

Rodgers seems to be early favourite
Hope they get him just so that we aren’t linked in summer...
Hopefully any interest in him will force Ashley to agree to Rafa's termd
