Re: World Cup Qualifiers - 2018
Giving a player a free role isn't uncommon. Often giving players creative freedom can actually benefit the team as a whole. Authorising a player to operate in a free role is a lot different to this: he "can't stop" Rooney from dropping into midfield, adding the player has a "lot more experience at ...

Re: World Cup Qualifiers - 2018
http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/37271746 "Wayne played wherever he wanted to," said Allardyce. "He did play a little deeper than I thought he'd play, but I was pleased with his performance." Allardyce, who took over from Roy Hodgson in July, says he "can't stop" Rooney from dropping into midfield,...

Re: World Cup Qualifiers - 2018
I wonder how long it will be before the FA realises that we need to look further afield than just English managers. There's a good reason why English managers as a group are absolutely nowhere near the top level compared to others. There are 4 out of 20 managers in the Premier League who are English...

Re: Sissoko to Spurs (CONFIRMED)
£30million is absolutely ridiculous. Spurs have properly mugged themselves off. I don't hate the guy, but he really isn't worth anywhere near £30million. I don't know why so many clubs and managers are repeatedly naive when it comes to signings. The guy has an awful attitude and horrendously inconsi...

Re: Preview: Newcastle Utd vs Huddersfield - 13/08/16
We've got the best manager we've had in years and we're still absolute garbage <neg>. Need a much bigger overhaul of the squad to root out all negativity. When the majority of the players from last season are in the matchday squad, it's never going to be radically different. Anita, Colback, Janmaat...

Re: Preview: Newcastle Utd vs Huddersfield - 13/08/16
It's going to take more than a game and a half for Rafa to get it sorted man. Give it some time, there's still 44 f***ing games left <laugh> That doesn't really wash with me. Loads of teams go up/down leagues and make multiple changes and start off just fine. Look at what Hughton did in his Champio...

Re: Preview: Newcastle Utd vs Huddersfield - 13/08/16
I've always said that we needed a much larger clear-out to have any hope. With multiple managers all failing with largely the same team, it's clearly rotten to the core. When the team has performed so badly for so long, swapping out a few players will not transform the team even if it is in the Cham...

No streams in the Championship is utterly depressing.
Although it doesn't look like I'd want to watch them by what I'm hearing so far.

Re: No Better Moment to Score a Goal than Just Before Half Time? A Soccer Myth Statistically Tested
Players in commentary positions have said this too, and I can understand why. It's probably more demoralising than usual to concede just on the edge of the first half and then have to head through the tunnels at half time. However, whether this translates into ultimately underperforming in terms of ...

Re: Euro 2016: Day 7
Supporting Newcastle is heartbreaking enough, why must I also be cursed with supporting England. It's almost like the gods of football hate me. This is why I picked the New England Patriots as my team in American Football. It's incredibly refreshing to support a team which actually wins a lot more ...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 16/17)
I dont get the Perez hype. Bookmark this if you want but I don't see him at one of europes top teams. He might prove me wrong and good luck to him if he does I just don't envisage it at all. I agree. Reminds me a little of Cabella. A lot of trickery and step-overs but not the equivalent amount of e...

Well that was disappointing.
Wales winning their game is worrying. One more lacking result and we could find ourselves at the wrong end of the group.

Re: Moussa Sissoko: “I want to leave Newcastle.”
Best news I've heard all day. I was frankly worried that we might try to keep him, to be honest. He just didn't show up last season and his performances are one of the reasons why we got relegated. Not the right attitude or character we need at all. I kind of hope Arsenal do sign him. He'll end up b...

Re: Steven Taylor Leaves (but was offered 1-year extension)
People have a ridiculously biased view against him. He gets criticised for showing passion by the twitter hipster fans. People act like he was useless, not an ex England Under-21 captain that showed enormous potential. Suffered from being a local lad. He was a fantastic centre back at his peak, in ...

Re: Steven Taylor Leaves (but was offered 1-year extension)
Good news. I like him but we could easily do better in his position. Bring in a reasonably good centre back and the squad will be strengthened already.

Re: Townsend in preliminary England squad
I find this whole preliminary squad thing a bit pointless.
I think Roy never had any intention of ever taking Townsend to the Euros no matter what he did to be honest. He has his favourites, and it would be a near-impossible to get him to change his mind with a brief sub appearance or two.

I'll be furious if we make any sort of attempt to try and hang on to him.
He's been a terrible captain and clearly doesn't want to be here. Our club will benefit if he goes.

Not enough view points consider this key area on toon forum in my opinion. It adds an extra dimension to the debates.
