Re: Man C banned from European Competition for 2 years

That's all well and good, but football is still the only big pro sport on earth where all of the teams are losing money hand over fist. For all the talk about how revenues are booming, owners have foolishly let their own spending get out of control. So as much as FFP in its current incarnations can ...

Var the talking point...again 😓😓
*Bad refereeing is the talking point again
This. The plays that everyone now focuses on to debate execution of VAR would still have been debated without it.

Re: The saint

To add a post to the forum today... It's also good to see a player who genuinely seems happy to be playing for us rather than just here for a payday. Remember days gone by with washed up expensive 'stars' such as Geremi, Owen, Duff etc. just here for money and clearly never really gave a ****? It's...

Pickford England's number 1......
A lot of depth at keeper in England for ages now, but they keep selecting the ones full of gaffes. I refuse to believe Pickford is actually the best English keeper.

Re: The saint

He's a huge player for us. He's similar to HBA, he might seem slightly one dimensional with the cutting inside but sometimes that doesn't matter. When you're that good at dribbling you can still beat the man. People stupidly criticised Arjen Robben his entire career for having one move, and he was ...

Re: Toon Takeover Thread

Where do the leaks come from? Why are the leaks always around transfer windows? I mean, the people shopping for football clubs love attention and headlines, and there's no better time to get in the football news than around transfer windows. As for "leaks", either there's some truth to them and it ...

Supposedly ditching buying us and in for West Ham now.
Oh wait it's football insider being picked up by the journalistic talents at the Chronic <laugh>
I bet West Ham are bought by the Saudis by the end of tomorrow <ergh>.
And then still get relegated.

Re: Toon Takeover Thread

Yes, because Ashley recruits royal despots to go in on rumours of a takeover in failed attempts to distract fans from the lack of transfer activity. If the point is that the increased media coverage of transfer season drums up these stories, sure, agreed; but when the conspiracy theories imply that...

Re: Match thread - Oxford v NUFC ( FA cup 4 replay )

Doesnt matter that oxford are a League 1 team, when it comes to the FA cup it doesnt really matter where in the football league you are, teams will always give it a really good go, they scored 2 fantastic goals that deserved to get them back into it, also they have already played really well agains...

It's all gone quiet. Shock. Until the summer when rumours start to surface again. Transfer window > takeover rumours > poor transfer window > window ends > rumours die down Rinse. Repeat. Yes, because Ashley recruits royal despots to go in on rumours of a takeover in failed attempts to distract fan...

Re: Match thread - Oxford v NUFC ( FA cup 4 replay )

I go into a meeting with my manager for half an hour, then come out and read through the past 7 pages. What a ride! To the ranking our most embarrassing losses, I think people have some revisionist history about our cup sides of past years. We've dressed plenty of first team players only to see the...

Re: Match thread - Oxford v NUFC ( FA cup 4 replay )

I hate when players are too cowardly to pick a forward or even sideways pass, and instead play it back to keepers to deal with. The keeper is just going to hoof it forward anyway, so why not do that yourself?! We do it far too often, and for a captain Lascelles is probably the most guilty, usually ...

Re: Match thread - Oxford v NUFC ( FA cup 4 replay )

In the PL there's a slim chance it could work when we have 30% possession and play on counter. But vs lower league we have too much ball. Yeah when we're scared of the ball he'd just be another Joelinton but tonight he'd have been better than playing without a striker. Despite everything else I've ...

Re: Match thread - Oxford v NUFC ( FA cup 4 replay )

Right, and yeah, in 2012/13 he had loan spells at both Norwich and Leicester, neither of which produced much. Although at least he'd already had a couple good loans spells the previous two seasons elsewhere. In Sorenson's case, I'm maybe waiting to see him make it work at the senior level somewhere...

Re: Match thread - Oxford v NUFC ( FA cup 4 replay )

There's plenty of players out there that lack strength. You don't even need to be physically strong to hold a ball up, a bit of experience helps you learn how to use your body. Not sure why but we're just awful with young players. It's not a surprise that Armstrong is doing well in the Championship...

Re: Match thread - Oxford v NUFC ( FA cup 4 replay )

Yeah let's play a player that's been sent back half way through loans for not being strong enough for div 2 football, makes sense. Not strong enough? It's been highlighted multiple times how loans don't always work, even for great players. It's the perfect opportunity to play a youngster rather tha...
