Re: Match thread - Norwich V NUFC

Am I the only one who thought it was a bigger mistake from Dummett than Willems? Sure he should have come back to the ball, but it was a soft lazy pass that welcomed an interception and counter attack. Dummett played well otherwise, but that goal felt more on him and Jamaal (to me). The pass was po...

Re: Match thread - Norwich V NUFC

This will be a real tough one. Norwich will be right up for it, and I'm not so sure I can say the same for our boys. Despite his mistake, I'd start Willems at LWB. I would like us to go with Joelinton Almiron and ASM to start but I reckon it would leave us too short in midfield. Team for me: Dubrav...

Re: Match day thread - NUFC V Arsenal

Just caught up with the game. Both teams lacklustre, and a draw would have been a fair result. Poor decision from Willems to not come to the ball for their goal, but it was 4 minutes into his debut in English football so I'm giving him a pass - just unfortunate that it led to a goal (after some ter...

Re: Match day thread - NUFC V Arsenal

And I'd add that I agree with Colly that Hayden is definitely more valuable playing behind Shelvey than more advanced. He's much better breaking up play at the back than receiving or making passes farther forward.

Re: Match day thread - NUFC V Arsenal

This. Something like this would be interesting to watch even though it looks attacking, I think we could do well against the ''lesser teams'' so to speak at home we could use this to play on the front foot.. Duba Schar Lascelles Dummet Manquillo Longstaff Shelvey Willems Miggy Joelinton Maximin Lik...

Re: Boycott

The loan is done for show to justify the logic of a long term legacy debt to him. Every other club is purchased and the purchasers will inject the club with funds to operate. With respect to the commercial arrangements that are in place and the lack of increasing these (for his own benefit) these a...

Re: TFFFL 19/20 (ToonForum Fantasy Football League)

That's what I get for buying the cheaper City and Pool options (De Bruyne and Firmino). Thankfully my big spend on Kane as captain kept me in it. I decided not to pick Salah or Sterling all season regardless of how well/badly my team is doing. The last couple of years having them just makes things ...

Re: Boycott

I can forgive errors. What I'll never accept is the lack of ambition. Whether or not you think Rafa was the right manager for us, this quote epitomizes Ashley's reign I think if he could achieve his ambition to make money along with the ambition of footballing success he probably would (because it ...

Re: Boycott

I don’t think owning the club is costing Ashley anything. Sure he might not be raking it in, but if he was personally losing money year on year I’m sure he would have found an opportunity to sell (even if it wasn’t quite the price he wanted, if he was losing enough for a sustained period he’d event...

Re: Boycott

There is a big claim that 'profit' is being made by Ashley, because not all of the revenues that are required to run the club (TV, commercial, matchday) are left in the club. He is taking money from the club - it's not possible that a club this size is the only one in the league where the income is...

Re: Match day thread - NUFC V Arsenal

Thought we were slightly better than Arsenal, albeit less organized maybe. But they only had 2 shots on target, and the goal came from a moment of shambolic defending by our two most defensive defenders. There were also a lot of new faces playing non-friendly football together for the first time. I ...

Re: Boycott

Also Mike Ashley is making no money from NUFC. He’s getting cheap advertising for SD but otherwise we’ve been run to break even for years, and financed when we’re in the Championship. And the majority of our revenue comes from TV and sponsorship not fans. Of course Mike Ashley is making from NUFC. ...

Re: Weekend Football 9th - 11th August

I'm late to this thread, but going back to Friday's game, they were missing their 2 best CBs. I know defending won't be their strong suit this season, but I'm also not going to read too much into them getting rolled over at Liverpool in week 1 with their back-up CBs playing.

Re: Team for Arsenal

Also hoping Pepe and Lacazette aren't considered ready to play. I actually hedged against it and removed Pepe from my FPL team (for week 1), can't afford to waste 9.5m on a player that won't start.

Not too surprised about Aarons. Who would you drop to include him? I can't see a single name I would drop for him.
Is there only one player on the list that doesn't count towards the 25? Otherwise there should have been room to add someone else (if they wanted to).

Re: Boycott

Many good points have been made here. I want to be clear I too respect both sides. Also, even a 'successful' boycott agaist Arsenal is just a message which will almost certainly not get rid of Ashley. Having supported this side since I was 8, I have become numb to results. Because of the lack of am...

Re: NUFC squad announced

Does Sean want a number that adds up to 9? I'm all for players taking whatever random numbers they like, but because I'm so used to players not taking that approach, I'm surprised by his.
