Re: Match day thread - NUFC v West Ham

Is it fair to say it was Lascelles' man that scored both goals? I want to like him, he seems a good leader in the dressing room, but still often feel like he's not improving like I'd hoped. I can usually get over his terrible ball skills, but he makes a lot of mistakes when defending too.

Re: WEEKEND FOOTBALL - 4/6 JULY 2020

I like Bournemouth and I think Eddie Howe is a good manager but serious questions needs to be asked about that. 1 goal in 27 appearances for Liverpool for Solanke, dodgier business than Joelinton. Agreed, he’s done a good job keeping them in the PL for 5 years. He has been backed financially in tha...

Re: Importance of ASM

The lad has all the attributes to be world class. I think bruce has done a good job with him, seems to have instilled a greater sense of teamwork in him. When he first came there was a lot of criticism of him dribbling to nowhere ad lacking the final ball. He now seems so much more aware of play an...

Re: What's the verdict on VAR?

Have to stick with it. You can't have millions of people watching wrong decisions in slow motion 4K replay at home while officials are left without tools to get decisions right on the field. I agree that the execution has been really poor, which is pretty inexcusable considering how many leagues had...

Re: Toon Takeover Thread

To be fair, KSA are probably in with a good shout for the Top 4! <roll> <laugh> I think the UK's history of colonisation and slave trading puts us safely in the top 4 too <laugh> Oh well if we're going all time table, that totally changes things! Absolutely, England was a long-time title challenger...

Re: New squad after potential takeover

I just wish this takeover would go through so we can tie our best players down. With Ashley still here Im always nervous the likes of Saint Max and Alimron will get sold. I'd feel a little more confident, but if you look around Europe it doesn't matter how big and rich a club you are, the stars sti...

Re: Match day thread - Bournemouth v NUFC

Oh yeah he didn't create much or anything, just looked tidy and did the simple things well (which is something that he doesn't do when players as a striker). I think that's harsh, he's always been able to do that. Sadly he's always struggled to do more, hopefully he'll keep improving but he needs t...

Re: Match day thread - Bournemouth v NUFC

I've relatively speaking been a defender of his, but I'll also say CM has been the biggest area of need for years now. It's such an important area of the pitch when it comes to controlling and influencing play, and we haven't had seriously influential CMs since Cabaye and Tiote. Agree with that on ...

Re: Match day thread - Bournemouth v NUFC

Shelvey has been a necessary (dr.)evil for us over the past few years, he's far too self centred on the pitch to play for a top 6 club. When he has a good game he can be a game changer, but when he doesn't he's a complete liability. I hate how every ball has to be a hollywood ball from him. If this...

Re: Football Kit 20/21

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53261364 I sympathise with the lower league clubs that rely more heavily on that sponsorship money, but I do laugh at the suggestion that betting companies will ever do anything meaningful to minimize problem gambling and addiction. Especially all of these forei...

Re: Match day thread - Bournemouth v NUFC

Have to say, that is probably the first game in maybe two years where we comfortably dominated from th get go. Very impressed with bentaleb, only one to get me to roll my eyes was shelvey but he did get the assist for Lazaro who has a cracker of a shot in him. I actually thought Shelvey pinged a lo...

Re: Match day thread - Bournemouth v NUFC

We seem to be playing with so much confidence at the moment. I dont really want to bring Rafa up but I think it's a good comparison atm, i don't see us playing like we did yesterday under Rafa, we would have probably tried to see out a 2-0. I think Bruce gives the players more confidence and belief...

Re: Football Kit 20/21

^ Too much white for me personally. Juventus just went through a season with half-and-half black and white too, and the world didn't come to an end. Personally I'm not too precious about how the stripes are presented. I appreciate some really straight forward and traditional approaches to striped ki...

Re: Toon Takeover Thread

As far as we're aware, this is a test that has never been failed and has certainly never gone on for this long. A delay could have been understandable but serious questions need to be asked about the length of time this has taken. It's like they're waiting for something to come up that can give the...

Re: New squad after potential takeover

I'm doubtful any team entering or already in the PL would want to go into the season with an on loan young keeper as their first choice. Keepers are too affordable to not make a bigger investment in the position. Or at least clubs will likely be too risk-adverse to take that leap with a player they...

Re: New squad after potential takeover

Come on, you can't tell us that and not elaborate... "Conspiracy theories" has got me interested <divax> Maybe I shouldn't have called them that, but it was a lot of bickering about cheap Ashley, Saudis wanting local lads, etc. Making it out to be so much more representative that the club just grab...

Re: New squad after potential takeover

Think Darlow has another year on his contract, but can see BigGeordieDave says him being sold come the summer. Is Woodman good enough to be number 2 for us next season? Will he want to be is more the question I'd have. Woodman has done very well at Swansea and I know from contacts from there they'v...

Re: New squad after potential takeover

Don't read some of the ridiculous conspiracy theories and debates about Gillespie on less...reasonable forums/blogs than this. They brought in an okay local keeper who will be content being third choice and potentially never playing. Every club needs one, and there's certainly no point in wasting a ...

When Max Meyer came on today I didn’t really think it was fair that he gets £170,000 a week at Palace for providing virtually zero <roll>
Well yes, their assignment of resources to give him so much of their payroll is hilariously bad <laugh>
