Re: 50 years since our last trophy

I think we'll fluke a (formerly known as the Carling) Cup in like 8 years' time.

Re: Newcastle 2019-20 Fixtures

I know why the rule is in place, but I'd like to see it trialed to see if it did have a negative effect on attendances of lower league clubs. I think that most people who go to support clubs further down the pyramid would carry on, and they wouldn't choose sitting at home watching Everton v Burnley...

Re: Ashley Agrees to Sell Newcastle for £350m!

Hope so. At least it seems like an honest attempt to sell the club this time. I'd say it seems more like an honest attempt to buy the club. But I wouldnt put it past Mike Ashley to put so many conditions in there. I'm a cynic but when it was declared they had agreed a price, I can believe that. Ash...

Re: Ashley Agrees to Sell Newcastle for £350m!

2 days and no posts here. Are we assuming it's dead now? Also, made you look t*** <urgh> Can't speak for anyone else, but I'm remaining hopelessly optimistic. No news doesn't mean it's dead and buried. Although the closer Rafa's contract get's to being gone, the more worried I get. This kind of pro...

I believe she could be a great pundit, but when playing you could always count on her for dumb comments, on-pitch antics, or being a sore loser, like when calling Sweden cowards when beaten by them at the past Olympics (a few examples here https://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/08/hope-solos-comments-about-...

Willo for England was definitely just #bantz.
Seconded. Definitely a good joke - but anyone thinking that definitely needed to watch more non-Newcastle football, or possibly, watch Willo more closely.

Re: Women's World Cup France 2019

I'd agree that the level of celebration was over the top if it was a league match. When you play for your country and score then you should celebrate. If they hadn't of celebrated they'd likely be lambasted by Trump and then you'd have all his **** nugget supporters sending threats anyway. His supp...

Re: Women's World Cup France 2019

Definitely. They represent the most famous female (team) athletes in the US, going back to the days of Mia Hamm, with a great collegiate system and a lot of investment. Have had some really unlikable stars (if you're not American, or maybe even if you are) over the past few years though - looking a...

Interesting, because I also read the rumour suggesting that's who Palace want if they do sell Wan Bissaka to Man U. So I wonder if some of those rumours are getting crossed.

Re: Women's World Cup France 2019

The US from what I gather and leaps ahead of everyone else in terms of the women's game, with heavy investment/scholarships common for quite a number of years now whereas nations such as England it has been a relatively recent development. Definitely. They represent the most famous female (team) at...

Re: Women's World Cup France 2019

I should clarify though, my bigger issue is still doing big celebrations as they hit double digits. They're the #1 ranked team, act like you've been there and scored before. Though I'll also cop to there being a big rivalry between Canadian and American womens national teams (in most sports, includi...

Re: Women's World Cup France 2019

There's no excuse for running up the score in a football match like that. Goal differential is not going to matter to them getting out of their group, and there are plenty of ways to play that can reduce the shots you're taking without it clearly taking the piss.

Re: Iron Mike lands managment role!

Limited, but did his job and did it well. Love Big Mike. I think it highlights that being loved and being a great player can be mutually exclusive. I'll admit I had a lot of misgivings with him as a centre back, I think just because his limitations were things that happen to aggravate me as a footb...

If ever there was a manager suited for Ashley, it's David Moyes. Proven to keep a club plodding along in the league on next to no funds, low on ambition and hes had a few mares recently so he'll be nice and cheap to employ
Sunderland would suggest otherwise <whistle>

Good riddance for sure, but with Rondon's future uncertain, and Gayle seemingly surplus, that puts our striking options dangerously limited.

I believe Mbappe put in a transfer request <whistle>
Definitely dangerously limited, but Joselu wasn't going to change that

Re: Jose Antonio Reyes killed in car crash

I remember growing up a family friend with a Corvette took me for a ride (I've always been a huge car enthusiast). Anyhow, he got it up to 120mph on a country road but immediately backed off saying that he didn't risk having a tire go and guarantee we die. When you're at speeds like that, there are...

Reports that he was driving at 140mph and suffered a blow out. If proven true, sympathy will be in much shorter supply. Re: Ashley Agrees to Sell Newcastle for £350m!

Why do we always insist Mike Ashley only cares about money and is using the club as a vehicle for sports direct, yet then accuse him of wanting to sabotage the club in various ways to destroy it, in turn destroying the profile and the lucrative incomes of premier League football. What next Mike Ash...
