Re: Match day thread - Watford v NUFC

I think one thing that's clear from the last 2 games; Darlow is a million miles ahead of Woodman at the moment. I think we all wanted Woodman to come in and be great, and whilst a lot of the goals we let in weren't his fault, I think that it has been quite obvious since Darlow came back that he's b...

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

I can never understand where they find the leverage from? Managers frequently sign to longer terms than clubs ever keep one. Sure another of the top clulbs might come in for them, but realistically there's so few of those jobs and managers to go around and usually only one available at a time. In so...

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

Can’t say I’ve followed their issues that closely, but definitely thought he only got the job because of his Barcelona history, but that’s usually the way Barcelona have done things in the past. What good business from Barca, clearly they're as good with managerial contracts as player contracts. Th...

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

Anyone else enjoying seeing Koeman on the hotseat? He's obviously having to deal with a lot of off-field problems that impacted who is on the field, but I've never thought much of him as a manager - and after his poor performance at Everton (and then Netherlands) only got that gig because of his tie...

Yeah for me Willocks best position is where you have Almiron, the Kevin Nolan hole.

<perv>

The only problem with that is the lack of a decent partner for Hayden behind him. Longstaff is the only real option.
If only we had better CM options <urgh> <wah>

I know Steve Cooper is supposed to be a great manager and all, but I can't help feeling he looks like he's had a frontal lobotomy...
They couldn't have picked a worse photo of him unless he was stepping out of the shower or during an ill-mannered salute (been watching The Chair on Netflix...).

Yeah there must be something going on. He’s been on the bench every game but not played a single minute.
According to Craig hope ( I know ) Gaye and Jones had a falling out
But everything good is because of Jones and everything bad is Bruce's fault?!

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

Also before he was in charge he was assistant for Kinnear wasn't he? Before that he was caretaker for Keegan also if I remember correctly. So he had been in the club for two seasons allready when he was appointed as manager, the players knew him and trusted the guy. I can be wrong, but I never saw ...

Re: Newcastle involved in payments to transfer fixers in 2011

Agree with everyone that says this is common, and can be sure whatever peanuts we're involved in are nothing compared to clubs that have been outspending us. Plus, I wouldn't want any transfer bans coming down, because that doesn't punish Ashley, it punishes the club, and would only put prospective...

Re: New Kit 21/22

I'm liking the recent trend of 90s colours and patterns (without the baggy 90s fit). I prefer a slightly baggy fit, nowadays it’s all skin tight. Doesn’t do much for the non-athletic figure <laugh> Touche. I definitely don't want the player fit and material - which I know was offered for a phase. B...

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

I know nobody likes him, but I’d take a punt on Terry over Hughton, who’s race at the top level is clearly done. Terry has had a decent few years at Villa for experience, and seems less of a helmet since he retired. At least someone like him we could hope he might bring fresh ideas (a bit like what...

Re: Man U v Newcastle

Bruce quotes from the pre-Leeds press conference: "Well then you start looking at yourself, of course but knowing the way I am, it’s not in my nature to walk away from something when we’re in a fight. ‘Oh it’s too difficult so I’m going to walk away’, that doesn’t really register with me.” How many...

Re: wilson out 6 wks

Yes one of the biggest steps backwards we've made post-Rafa is it seems Lee Charnley and/or Steve Nickson are basically making all the squad structuring decisions. We desperately need a specialist director of football, someone who knows what they're doing with some experience. We need a new owner! ...

Re: wilson out 6 wks

Plenty of pre-season action for Gayle....zero PL minutes in 4 games this season. Typical Bruce. Leeds, Watford and Wolves next - if we don't give him game time in those three (you wouldn't rule out him getting a goal) then what on earth was the point in him getting a new 3 year deal...other than fo...

Re: Man U v Newcastle

I definitely won't compare the two as managers. Both may feel most comfortable with conservative play, but one is exacting (sometimes to a fault), while one doesn't seem detail-oriented in the slightest. Specifically, one is incredibly demanding about the roles each player must fulfill, and how to ...

Listening to Townsend's post-match, saying Rafa doesn't praise you, he keeps wanting you to improve. We've got Steve "we did ever so well and played fantastically" Bruce after every defeat. Wonder why standards have nose dived. Whether people liked Rafa or not, anyone who claims there's not much di...

Steve Bruce has the same piss-poor results for over a decade and keeps getting an...
