Re: TF International Football Thread

Obviously the defender shouldn't have underestimated one of the fastest players in world football, then should have cleared it into the 19th row. But to run that far, that fast and then effectively pull off that backheel under control astounded me in the moment.

Re: New Manager

Looking at everyone linked, maybe we will see Rangnick in as interim manager until January, see how it's going, if well stays as manager until the summer where we then move him up to sporting director and appoint a long term manager to work with him. Can't see him leaving Russia for an interim role...

Re: New Manager

People may not like it but the way this is panning out is the right move imo, I think if he's here after Palace then my stance may change. But for now I'm happy with slow and steady, I'd probably like to see a Sporting Director by middle of next week at the least though. Agreed. I think there's a p...

Re: Minority of not, some of our fans are embarrassing right now

So I had a big framed display of all of my match tickets and a panoramic photo of SJP from the year I lived there. It fell off the wall and smashed last night. Apparently the ghosts in my old house are trying to send me a message too. [Kidding about the ghosts part] I reference that because reflect...

Re: TF International Football Thread

Alphonso Davies is my hero. His pace is ridiculous.

Canada might finally qualify for a WC for the first time in my lifetime.

Re: Demba Ba interview

That is a great article. Demba really seems to have a great mind for the game, and especially a great understanding of player psychology. Sounds like he has a lot of ambition to further his career in football after retirement, and the instincts and drive to do it.

Re: January Transfer Rumours/Wishlist 21/22

I meant no disrespect to MGP - nor necessarily meant that he specifically was a one season wonder. In general it just felt like it was easier for a player to seemingly come out of nowhere to score a lot of goals for a season or two. It's rare for players to surprise us and produce on that scale now...

Re: New Manager

Touche. I should clarify that although I think it's a bigger risk to run out the season with him, I don't want them to rush into a hiring if a preferred option isn't available - nor is Bruce management in an away match against Spurs a missed opportunity. It's at St James' Park and in my opinion, fo...

Re: January Transfer Rumours/Wishlist 21/22

There were some good one-year wonders in the league during that period. It's rare now to see a random striker pop up and expectedly score 20+ nowadays. Two seasons! <fist> I meant no disrespect to MGP - nor necessarily meant that he specifically was a one season wonder. In general it just felt like...

Yeah I liked Santa Cruz at Blackburn.

Remember Morten Games Pedersen? He was class for a while there too.

Re: New Manager

Problem is you are going off the assumption that Bruce is going to be kept on for months rather than a week or two. There is nothing risky about taking our time especially when it's on our side, it's not like we are down to the final few games of the season and are In desperate times. Touche. I sho...

Re: New Manager

I think it makes sense to just get anyone in, even on a temp basis, just to try and get more out of this squad. Tactics, formations whatever. Anyone is better than Bruce. It's a risk either way, but if we stick with Bruce we're going to be in a horrible position by January. You also can't pin all y...

Re: January Transfer Rumours/Wishlist 21/22

Reflecting back, he had one amazing season with Blackburn, then a very middling one where he only scored 6. He got his big sale to Man City then, and only scored 4 in his time there. To his credit, he's still playing at his hometown club at age 40.

Re: TF International Football Thread

Big game for Scotland tonight. Yes. It's against the Faroe Islands but these are the types of games that we traditionally mess up Get the points tonight, another win against Moldova and we're in the play off for the World Cup and don't have to worry about the final game Vs Denmark Scotland are luck...

Re: Takeover back on - DEAL DONE

All that is true - and equally deserving of more scrutinity. But I think we have to accept that more fuss is made about everything ethically questionable than it used to be - and better late than never I say (for most issues). But I still think it's a bit of revisionist history to say people didn't...

Re: TF International Football Thread

Likely nobody here but me cares about this, but a big qualifier for Canada this week too. Were only the 5th team in WC qualifer history (going back to 1934) to avoid defeat at Mexico's Stadio Azteca last week. But 4 draws (and 1 win) from 5 matches so far have them needing some wins to keep pace wit...

Re: New Manager

Brendan Rodgers being now mentioned as favourite. Might appeal to him - the chance to have a tilt at top silverware with a top budget behind him. Destined to be out of top 4 at Leicester On the other hand he'd be moving from high profile comfortable number ( define success for Leicester - 5th ?) .....
