Re: Carabao Cup Final thread - Toon v Liverpool

Just got back, long drive after yesterday. All the frustrations of not getting a ticket two years ago gone in an instant along with my 40 years of nothing to shout about. All that pessimism through the week started lifting the closer we got to the game, and with an excellent start it was obvious we ...

Re: Rest of the weekend football - 15/16 March 2025

It's going to be 5 English teams in the CL next season.. Looking at the current coefficient England are way out ahead with 2 teams left in last 8. If either Villa or Arsenal get to Semis it is nailed on that we get 5. So we need to get minimum 5th spot to qualify for 25'26 CL Looking at remaining P...

I think solid is putting it lightly, he's had an excellent season. He's even started doing footballer things recently in possession.

Surely he's in as a centre back, he's not played LB all season.

Re: New stadium

I'm not quick enough... can anyone post it? I'm especially interested in the "where we play in the interim". If it’s on leazes park when can’t we still play at SJP? For some reason I thought I'd read something about it in the tweet. May have been edited, I may be seeing things. I guess if it's the ...

Feels a bit pointless for the sake of 12k seats, but presume there's more scope to expand after?

I can't think of one, but may leave it to the old boys around here. We had Kenny and Paul Dalglish as manager and player.

Re: New stadium

I'd argue they've been average for a long time, even though they're a long way from the Fergie days they've still won FA Cups and Europa Leagues recently and usually still finish in the European places. It's only very recently they've become actually s****, to the point that if it weren't for some v...

Re: New stadium

I suppose that comes down to whether their recent slump continues. Manchester is massive compared to Newcastle (even considering two clubs) and enough of it is affluent enough to afford the ticket prices, so the local crowd will be bigger and they've always had a tourist element. They'll start to lo...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v 'Ammers

Agree. Strikers are allowed to use their arms to create space, and Isak did it to create a goal for himself a few weeks back (forget who against). You can't be ruling out goals for things like that, and you'd be giving penalties every 10 minutes if you penalised defenders for doing it.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v 'Ammers

Individual errors aside (Tonali, Murphy et al guilty of giving it away cheaply) I thought we were great after the goal. Good result.

Barnes drawn a couple of good saves tbf.

Tino has too much confidence on the ball tho, needs to keep it simpler instead of trying to run past 4 people.
I wouldn't mind if he was bombing up the line, but half the time he's running across out defensive line with the ball.
