Re: Euro 2024 chat

That's the weird bit, Spain were by far the best side in the tournament, but that's really faint praise given how utterly s**** everyone else was. Austria overperformed and Germany looked like Germany at times, but the likes of Italy and France were horrendous.

Re: Euro 2024 chat

I'd liken Southgate's style slightly to what we had under Rafa at times, albeit marginally less organised. We'd set up really compactly against big sides and every now and then get a result, but then struggle to come out of that shape when we went behind ("think of the goal difference") or had to pl...

Re: The Match Tickets Thread

I'll wave from the away end. Abandoning the family at the aquarium for the afternoon... Some great museums nearby too, all free entry not far from the Deep, Theres Wilberforce House, Street life museum and the Hull and East Riding museum. All located in the Old Town Museums Quarter. Much appreciate...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

I'm not convinced communication is much better, despite the initial positivity and on field progress the Supporters Trust have been less than impressed with engagement. Ticketing has been pretty poor too, from the league cup final fiasco to unlimited memberships and lack of transparency on ticket av...

Re: Euro 2024 chat

I don't know anyone who dislikes Ally McCoist, which bearing in mind he's Scottish and an ex-mackem is pretty good going. Still gutted we walked straight past him when we got to Villa away stupidly early last season and he was taking photos with fans before going up to the gantry. His view on the pe...

Re: Euro 2024 chat

That was so much better. First half performance superb, and while the changes probably happened ten minutes later than they were needed at least he finally had the balls to do it. Brilliant from Watkins (especially after not connecting with that Shaw pass), and another great game from Mainoo. Penalt...

Re: Euro 2024 chat

There's also a big difference between grinding out results in the way that Mourinho did early on at Chelsea (go 1-0 up, win 1-0, win title) and sitting and playing s**** all game, then panicking when we go behind and fluking a result. It goes back to when Bjg Sam managed us and complaining we wanted...

Re: Euro 2024 chat

Which sounds delightfully grand, when in actual fact his tactic is "don't concede and hope for 'moments'", putting him in the company of Allardyce and Bruce. The sheer tactical genius of a well worked 94th minute long throw to keep you in a competition.

Re: Euro 2024 chat

Presumably Gordon trying to beat his man for pace and playing that through ball are the reasons he hasn't kicked a ball since.

Re: Euro 2024 chat

Am I the only one not amazed by Ivan Toney and him not looking at the ball when taking a penalty?...I mean surely a professional footballer should know how to kick a stationary ball without looking at it??? That was my first thought, but I suppose the difference is between a ball you're in possessi...

Re: Euro 2024 chat

If nothing else a blank managerial slate would probably be more welcome than Lampards record of failure.

Re: Euro 2024 chat

Switzerland or Italy beat England imo if England continue to be s*** You would think at some point that surely England have to put a decent 90 minutes together At this rate of progressing while being admittedly poor all tbey need to do is turn up in the final It would be the most anti football vict...

Re: Euro 2024 chat

It's been decent, just the format means that the 2nd and 3rd games have been really cagey dull affairs (mostly). It'll perk up for the knockouts.

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

Record transfers are almost always about circumstance rather than the player anyway, it certainly wouldn't be out of the ordinary for a player like Isak to do it these days. Especially with Chelsea involved.

Re: Euro 2024 chat

I think Southgate will be gone after this tournament regardless (barring a win and a desire to have one more World Cup) so I'll live with it for now as most of the superstars (Foden, Bellingham, Gordon) will be even better by 2026, but it's incredibly frustrating. I don't think the issue is favourit...

Re: Random Transfers

Luuk had no chance, that team was so s**** he was lucky to get a half chance per game. Towards the end he was dropping deep just to get a touch.
