Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

Yeah Alex Scott is very good but you can tell some are just on there to tick a box. That said, some male pundits are woeful so no difference.

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (January 2021)

He probably hasn't done enough to warrant walking into a top end Championship team, but then again Woodman had only played 20-30 SPL games before going to Swansea so was still raw. Matty has played about 10 first teams games (most as sub probably) in his entire career. He's been linked with Derby r...

Re: WEEKEND FOOTBALL - 27/30 NOVEMBER 2020

Reading that Ryan Mason story genuinely makes me worry about playing football. If you get a hit like that playing in a Sunday League game you're not going to be in a top hospital having surgery within an hour. Obviously not exactly the same, but I've boxed at a very amateur level, and there was ple...

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

Be good to see that first step for a female manager in the male game, I don't think it'll be anywhere near the top league though. As someone said, only way you'd likely see that is a coach working their way up, ala McClaren, Clement et al. Managers worth their salt in the women's game, the aforemen...

Re: WEEKEND FOOTBALL - 27/30 NOVEMBER 2020

It sounds like long term one of the biggest risks is also repetition, alongside the less frequent occasions of head clashes. Think of how many times a footballer will head a ball in their career during the course of training and in matches. Agree that risks will always be there, and anyone participa...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (January 2021)

Almost as if Bruce doesn't know what tactics or squad rotation is. For the actual point though, I agree that MLongstaff should be sent out on loan. What are the limitations for domestic loans between the same clubs? Dunno how Swansea are doing, but Woodman seems to be doing well down there. Be a go...

Re: Coronavirus

My nephew self-isolated for 14 days as someone in his class tested positive, been back a week and now has to self-isolate again for 14 days as another kid has tested positive. Farcical, he'll go back on 14th December which is pointless and if someone else tests positive it'll mean all those kids hav...

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

I don't think the quality of Women's football should have any impact on women getting jobs as managers in men's football. While the obvious progression into management is playing the men's game professionally, there will be many female coaches who are as, if not more qualified than the likes of Mou...

Its so odd he's not getting played given how s**** the rest of our CMs have been. Or playing Miggy out of position there
Wasn't Schar played over him in midfield once or twice after the restart? Though Matty might have been injured, can't remember for sure.

Re: WEEKEND FOOTBALL - 27/30 NOVEMBER 2020

Yes couldn't do any harm to reduce the impact and get it used in training, and also at youth level. There will always be an element of risk, but if you can remove part of it then it seems silly not too. And with modern materials they can wear thin and light head protection. I never want to see headi...

FA Cup Third Round Draw - 30 NOV at 19:00

Coverage will be live on BBC1 from 7pm, also on BT Sport and via the FA's youtube and social media accounts. This has been a bit meh the last few years compared to how it was when I was a kid in the 90s and early 2000s, but actually a bit more excited about it this year with the likes of Chorley, Ma...

Wow that's awful.

There were a couple of callers to 606 weekend before last who's husband / dad's (former pro footballers) died of dementia and the lack of support they received. Was pretty harrowing to listen to.

https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-matty-longstaff-future-19368609 Not a rumour, but agree with this. Either play M Longstaff or send him out on loan. He's only played a handful of first team games and needs minutes. It doesn't look like he'll get them here...

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

Why are they seemingly only being linked to their own former managers and Paul Cook? <laugh> Would be interesting to see names like Emma Hayes in the mix. Was briefly floated for the Chelsea men's job, but that was a non starter. Women in football don't seemingly get the boost that top level male i...
