Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

I think we should start keeping a tally of your “success” rates on these ones to watch - usually it’s “watch as they sign for someone else” ;)

Gordon picked up hip injury against Albania and apparently it doesn't look good...
Bummer. Run for Barnes then, who I think has done well in the couple of games that Gordon has been suspended.

Re: The F1 Thread

Eddie Jordan has died, a real maverick and trail blazer. F1 and top level sport is so commercial and rich now that we won't really ever see the likes of Eddie doing what he did again. I was invited a while back to a corporate shindig when I worked for Toyota and Eddie Jordan was also on the guest l...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

Huijsen will go to a CL club so if we finish any lower than 5th there’s absolutely zero chance. Liverpool, Real and others linked too so would be tough to land him but class. Juventus fans pretty pissed they sold him for £15m and paid £20m for Kelly.

Re: Days lost through injury

Excellent career in France mainly, doing pretty well in Serie A still too. Both slower and/or less physical leagues which probably suits his game.

I travel up from the midlands and nobody I know supports Newcastle, the benefit of going on your own is you don’t really go out spending £100+ on booze <laugh> Possibly where we differ mate, I get overly friendly and buy people drinks and end up adding to the bill <laugh> My mate local here is from...

Re: The Match Tickets Thread

Yeah the cup games I went to were £20 for the match ticket (decent price tbf for league cup), £90 return for the train, night in an Airbnb was £65 (hotels were all double that minimum), £10 on metro travel and probs around £50 on food and drink so it adds up. And I look forward to the hospitality V...

Re: The Match Tickets Thread

Nice! My aim was to get to one game this season but made it to two so can’t moan <laugh>

Would be nice to have some sort of way of trying for the occasional away ticket but seems that’s never happening in the next decade at least! My last away game was wolves away, Bruce’s penultimate game…

Darwin's value has to have plummeted since, barely gets a kick.
Doesn't matter in relation to a Saudi move, they'll still pay stupid money.

I've only had luck in the cup games, not won any league ballots.

Re: Howe under pressure?

Ironically there is likely to be more pressure than ever, like some have mentioned it's now a case of "what's next?" Howes definitely earned the right to carry on, but there will be bigger expectation moving forward. We definitely have to recruit in the summer and like I mentioned in the run in thr...

Re: Run In

I don’t think it’ll change at all as to how the season has gone for the most part. We’ll win quite a few of those, we’ll drop points in some that on paper we should be winning, and we’ll pull a random unexpected win out of the bag. It’ll go to the wire for us and all the teams competing for p4 and p5.

Re: Days lost through injury

Although gifted players, I don’t think cabella or Thauvan were ever suited for the PL. I get the same feeling of someone like Fabio Vieira.

How Steve McLaren did so badly with the team he had is staggering! Why was it the only man that Ashley trusted with money was him <laugh>

Re: Carabao Cup Final thread - Toon v Liverpool

Can't view it at work, but tbf a lot of the reaction and comments I've read online have been overwhelmingly positive and a lot of non-Newcastle fans seems genuinely pleased that we did it and seeing how much it meant. Of course it's the internet so plenty of helmets out there, but overall a decent r...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

In theory I think that Liverpool can easily spend £250m in summer. Some big earners will leave their books, and they didn't spend last year.
