Re: Team for Huddersfield

Isn't Barecca meant to be terrible and has basically been brought in as a last resort? Seen a few things saying he was essentially third or fourth choice yeah, although that might be cost as well as ability. Diego Laxalt was supposedly top of the list, wouldn't come cheap. We went in for Barecca be...

Re: Signing #1: Martin Dubravka

Dubravka > Elliot > Darlow > Woodman. Think Woodman may end up being better than Elliot and Darlow. Also not sure how the latest round of injuries will have impacted on Elliot, could even be 4th choice now. For me Dubravka is miles better than the other 3. Not much between the other 3. I'd say that...

I'd have Longstaff a bit deeper, alongside Hayden, but otherwise I quite like the look of that.

Re: Signing #1: Martin Dubravka

Then why does your opinion on Darlow's ability hold more weight? He's obviously not the best keeper in the squad, but I'm with Colly, Darlow isn't terrible. Certainly not a bad back up option. Dubravka head and shoulders first choice, he's been brilliant since signing. Recent high profile mistakes m...

I'm still using fm18, but just used a steam mod to do all the updates up to this January. Started a new game as Newcastle and Miggy is sensational <awe>. Fernandez and Muto been really good as well.

Longstaff is looking really good so far, great promise, and does't look out of place. Better than Scholes ever was? Wind your neck in.
Can't be 100% sure here, but there's a slight chance it may have been a joke <roll>

Re: Match thread - Wolves v Toon

People blaming Dubravka can actually **** off, have no time for people like that. He's won us so many points this season. This. He's a great keeper and pulled us out the s*** more than a couple of times. Unfortunately he's had two glaring errors one after the other, that's how it goes some times. A...

Re: Match thread - Wolves v Toon

I would have been pleasantly surprised to see Almiron start, so not too disappointed. Odd that there's no Barecca, I expected him to start to Ritchie could return to the right side. Maybe picked up a knock?

Re: Weekend Football 9-10 Feb

We stuffed Cardiff 3-0 in our last winnable game. Fair point, but there have been a few "winnable games" we failed to win and Fulham springs to mind. What are the other ones? Agreed though, not to even have a shot on target against a team that hadn't even registered a clean sheet up to that point i...

Re: Emiliano Sala

The body that was found in the plane has been identified as Emiliano Sala. I suppose at best it's some closure for the family. As far as I'm aware they have yet to find David Ibotsson, the pilot. It's sad to say but it seems pretty clear by this point that at best it's his body to find. It's a terri...

Re: January 2019 Signing #2 Miguel Almiron (Club record £21m!)

Apologies if this has already been mentioned... Been watching some youtube clips of him. There's no doubt he's technically excellent. Two footed, can pick a pass, score from outside the box etc. But from what I've seen the MLS Is like playing FIFA on easy mode. There's just nobody really closing hi...

Yeah can't discount Spurs just yet. I'd be very very surprised if they did manage to win it, but it's not just a two horse race.

Re: Match thread - Spurs v Toon

I thought Perez had a decent game against spurs, saw glimpses of his quality on a few occasions, makes me think Almiron coming in is going to elevate his game, hes definitely the type of player who needs competition for his place to get the best out of him, imo. I think and hope they'll both be on ...

Re: January 2019 Signing #2 Miguel Almiron (Club record £21m!)

Ben Arfa is the obvious comparison to make, there's definitely similarities. He was such a talented player, just lacked the attitude/desire/commitment whatever. If Almiron can bring that as well as everything else <awe>

Re: January 2019 signing #1 Antonio Barreca

I mean Yedlin is often vulnerable in the air, but I don't feel he's awful. I don't think he's a downgrade on say Janmaat or Danny Simpson, for example. And he adds a huge amount to us going forward, whether we're playing a 4 or a 3/5 at the back. For example - his driving run created the situation ...

Re: January 2019 signing #1 Antonio Barreca

Brings up an interesting question, at least for me. Last few years we've had quite a lot of turnover in rightbacks. Debuchy, Simpson, Janmaat, Ryan Taylor and Perch to an extent, and now Yedlin. Who do people think are the best? As mentioned above, Yedlin is definitely not a poor alternative to any...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (January 2019)

He's either on the payroll or desperately trying to stay relevant. Maybe both. What an absolute piece of s****. Cronut. Aside from all the obvious points about the differences between the clubs and playing staff etc, there's a huge discrepancy between the two figures.
