Re: Team for Watford

I like this. But he'll play the same formation with four or five players ratcheted out of position and wonder why it doesn't work, again. I'm sure he'll have seen some good stuff from the lads though, you know.

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

I hadn't realised Cooper left Swansea at the end of last season. Did a decent job there, could be an interesting appointment for Forest. I know Steve Cooper is supposed to be a great manager and all, but I can't help feeling he looks like he's had a frontal lobotomy... As opposed to our manager who'...

Newcastle United - The Embodiment of ticking along.

Good read on the Athletic. Chris Waugh and Michael Walker. Included below but it's well worth the quid subscription. Even just for the Newcastle stuff alone. https://theathletic.com/2830262/2021/09/18/at-newcastle-there-is-anger-anarchy-and-affection-the-embodiment-of-ticking-along/ There is a corne...

Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

It's obviously nostalgia, but I'd have him back for sure. I was late to following football, only got into it at uni, and Hughton was my first manager. Soft spot there. He did a decent if not spectacular job at Norwich, Brighton and Birmingham. Notts forest looks a bit of a ball ache of a job at the ...

Re: Man U v Newcastle

Mate of mine is an Everton fan and unsurprisingly unsure about that particular appointment. Used take the piss out of me for banging on about him, even years after he left. Made a comment tonight about the way Benitez changed the game with tactics or something. I didn't see the match, so not sure ex...

**** me! Scotland won a bloody game?

Looked at last 4 matches and no doubt we'll screw it all up against Moldova and the Faroes to have no chance of a play off.
Genuine question, are the Faroes classed as a derby game?

Re: TF International Football Thread

Didn't realise he was here under Gullit and briefly caretaker manager, had to google that one. Rated him when he was at West Brom, seemed to do a decent enough job there. Can't say I've followed his career much since. Whilst I know the comment is clearly tongue in cheek, not sure he'd leave Scotland...

Right sided fullback isn't he? I'd have him here for sure but you'd imagine he'd have something lined up on the continent.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

Santos Laguna is where we've signed that Munoz from. Apparently the owner of that club Alejandro Irarragorri has been in talks to buy Newcastle a few times. Just reading it on the Athletic, mentioned in passing during a write up about the Munoz deal. I smell a conspiracy theory :bandit:

The highlight of this window is me tweeting the story about Santiago Munoz to Alessandro Nivola (Gavin Harris/him off Face/Off) and him liking it. You can close the window now Jim.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

In non-rape news, Saul Niguez looks to be signing for Chelsea so may open up an exit for Ampadu (not that I think he'd really improve us even if we were interested). Or Malang Sarr? I think business is probably done now though. I wonder if Munoz will be a bit like Perez where he'll come into the fi...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2021)

Supposedly we're signing Lewis Ferguson from Aberdeen, a loan initially with an obligation to buy for £3m at the end of the season. He handed in a transfer request after Aberdeen turned down a bid from Watford. Aberdeen got Matty Longstaff on loan to replace him. I confess to knowing less than noth...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2021)

Good move that he needs, but we need another midfielder in at least on loan to at the very minimum replace depth where we are already lacking. Even if it's the like of Choudery, however you spell it, who I'm not sure would be an improvement. In fairness though, I said the same about Willock in Janua...

Longstaff will do well under Rafa at Everton, I feel. I doubt the fans will be enthused about that signing, though.

Re: Willock in squad, Shelvey injured, Dubravka suffers set-back

is gillespie not still in the squad? If we seriously sign a keeper before a midfielder or striker i will personally be very upset He'd be the 4th one named in the squad. I think in Bruce's mind Woodman is the fourth, even though he's starting ahead of Gillespie. Woodman was meant to be going out on...

It's from the mail, but apparently we've put a price tag of 10m on Sean Longstaff because his contract is running down. Bruce doesn't like either of the brothers haha.

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2021)

Also linked to Malang Sarr on loan from Chelsea (instead of Ampadu). Left sided ball playing centre back, can see as more likely. A ball playing centre back you say...if only we had a decent one of those who had just had a good season in La Liga...! Yeah the Lejuene thing is odd. Suppose he's 30, b...
