Re: Weekend Football 17/10 to 19/10

I wish we were enjoyable to watch 🦆 I missed the entertainers years, but early 2000s under Sir Bobby with Solano and Robert on the wings, Speed and Dyer in midfield and Shearer/Bellamy up-front was decent <awe> Andy Griffin scoring the winner v Juventus, a 2-2 in the San Siro, Shearer hattrick agai...

Re: Weekend Football 17/10 to 19/10

Villa looking impressive this season. That Barkley goal was a brilliant strike. He would've been the perfect technically gifted attacking midfielder to fit alongside ASM/Wilson. Can score, assist, quick on the ball, powerful, physical & energetic. We missed a trick there.. I'm sure he would've consi...

Re: Match day thread: Newcastle v Man U

I'll harp on the midfield once again. For nearly a decade we've played ultra conservatively, having hired defensive managers and not recruited the necessary type of players to play a possession-oriented attacking style of play. Sure we've had some exciting wingers and forwards in that time, but tho...

Yep, you probably still get some pundits talking about Wilshere having potential.

Re: Match day thread: Newcastle v Man U

"It's a work in progress for us. We have tried to change and with that it will take time" ~ Steve Bruce He's been in charge for a few transfer windows now and had the majority of players long enough to change "system" and "mindsets" so that **** excuse doesn't cut the mustard anymore. He's just not...

Re: Other club transfers summer 2020

Yeah would've been a solid back-up / competition for Manquillo / Lewis. Can play RB & LB. I just checked he's not even that old.. he's 29 years old so he's still got couple more years at the top level. Crystal Palace is his hometown team and the team were he started at so I don't think he would've t...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2020)

The 2011-2012 season was a classic for us. Fighting to get into the top four but ending 5th. The goals of Cisse, the all-round play of Ba, The magic & unpredictability of Ben Arfa, Tiote was like Kante but better <love> , Cabaye's creativity & the rock solid Colo. Shout outs to the unsung heroes who...

Re: ASM to sign bumper new six-year contract

Cant wait for him to be s*** the rest of the season until we sell him to Spurs or Dortmund and he bangs in 15 20 goals a season <awe> Good news though even though as others have said it's not an additional 6 years. Hopefully it will keep him happy. This. <diva> Or unless we get into the Europa Leag...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2020)

Wow that is something. Yeah if you want to remember him for his great goals fair enough. I remember him with "what could have been if he'd knuckled down". I enjoyed him at Newcastle, but I don't buy into this narrative that nufc let him down and letting him leave was a travesty. Obertan was Pardew’...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2020)

Domestic window is open for a few more days so could potentially sign someone from the Championship (West Ham have had a £13m bid for Josh King turned down). I'll take Josh King.. reunited with his old pals Fraser & Callum <love> He's decent too and gives us strength in depth.. can play upfront & o...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2020)

Yohan Cabaye is on a free.. yes he's 34 but surely could still do a better job than Jonjo? I don't know if his legs or physicality would cut it at this age playing a box-to-box role but you never lose the passing, footballing IQ or technical ability. Give him a 1 year contract? Loan Matty Longstaff...

Re: WEEKEND FOOTBALL - 3/4 OCTOBER 2020

I don’t think there’s any doubt that their business was better than ours tbh. Long season but promising early signs for them, sadly! Yeah. Talking about Villa.. I wish the John McGin links were true back in Jan when we were interested in him, he'll be the perfect midfield box-to-box midfielder to c...

Re: WEEKEND FOOTBALL - 3/4 OCTOBER 2020

Aston Villa are looking really good this season. I guess they won't be too bothered about missing out on Wilson now <laugh> Maybe. It’s still too early to determine how good each side will be. Amazing result against Liverpool but it was a weird game (4? deflected goals) and they’ve played the botto...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2020)

Just saw Antonio Valencia is a free agent.. he's 35 but highly experienced & can cover RB/RWB/RW.. anyone take him? Kwadwo Asamoah has had his contract terminated by Inter Milan. Perfect utility man. Has a great engine, good footballing IQ, strong, athletic & technically adept. He's 31.. can cover D...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2020)

I'll take a punt on Welbeck you know.. never has been prolific but he's strong, decent in the air, athletic, mobile & versatile (can cover ST/SS/LW/RW).. if he's on reasonable wages, surely worth it? Either that or go for Sturridge who's also a free agent.. <whistle> Would love someone like Josh Ki...

Re: Other club transfers summer 2020

What's funny about Wilshire being released.. is that he'll be the perfect box-to-box technical central midfielder who could could work well with Hayden with his vision, passing, creativity, movement & footballing IQ. Unfortunately his injury & fitness record have taken there toll & I doubt he'll eve...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2020)

Looks like that's the lot. Obviously injuries are always an issue, and there are a couple of notable weaknesses still, but overall I think we've done positive business this window. Going forward, assuming every one is fit, I'd like to see something like this: <dubravka> <manq> <lascelles> <schar> <...
