Re: The Managerial Merry-Go-Round Thread

Also before he was in charge he was assistant for Kinnear wasn't he? Before that he was caretaker for Keegan also if I remember correctly. So he had been in the club for two seasons allready when he was appointed as manager, the players knew him and trusted the guy. I can be wrong, but I never saw a...

Re: Newcastle involved in payments to transfer fixers in 2011

Agree with everyone that says this is common, and can be sure whatever peanuts we're involved in are nothing compared to clubs that have been outspending us. Plus, I wouldn't want any transfer bans coming down, because that doesn't punish Ashley, it punishes the club, and would only put prospective...

I suspect this is pretty common around football tbh.
It probably is. And obviously they are usually paid to shut up. Maybe Ashley forgot one of his bills.

Newcastle involved in payments to transfer fixers in 2011

Could this eventually put more pressure on Ashley? I bet that if there's any proof of this, it's allready well hidden in a valve somewhere in London.
I hope that this blows up into a huge scandal and the whole cardhouse crashes down. <whistle>

Re: wilson out 6 wks

Yea but in the hierarchy of things more likely to happen, appointing a DoF is far more likely than getting a new owner. Of course we know that neither will happen. Maybe another new coach at best to put Bruce’s nose further out of joint. Perhaps with these statements putting Bruce in his place they...

Re: wilson out 6 wks

The problem is that we don't have much of an option. ASM and Joelinton aren't strikers, we let Carroll and Muto leave, so that leaves literally Gayle and nothing else. We might have to just give him a run of games and hope for the best. As for Almiron I'm still not entirely sure what he is. At leas...

Re: wilson out 6 wks

Hasn't it come out that Bruce didn't want he and some of the others to get contract extensions? So I'm not necessarily surprised there's a discrepency between his contract status and playing time. But it absolutely highlights how disfunctional the management of the club is - and how without meaning...

I'm a season ticket holder! I was grumpy at first at missing it but coming round to the idea more and more!

Re: Man U v Newcastle

I definitely won't compare the two as managers. Both may feel most comfortable with conservative play, but one is exacting (sometimes to a fault), while one doesn't seem detail-oriented in the slightest. Specifically, one is incredibly demanding about the roles each player must fulfill, and how to ...

Re: Man U v Newcastle

Mate of mine is an Everton fan and unsurprisingly unsure about that particular appointment. Used take the piss out of me for banging on about him, even years after he left. Made a comment tonight about the way Benitez changed the game with tactics or something. I didn't see the match, so not sure e...

Turkey got smashed by Netherland. We're up against them next and I absolutely hate it. I think Turkey stopped Norway from getting to a WC or EC 3 times the past 20 years. My worst memories with the national team is against Turkey, and that alone tells you a whole lot. What is the attitude to intern...

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

These stories are sometimes true, but do you really believe a player like Ronaldo, as good looking as he is, really needs to rape anyone? To me it sounds like a digger who thought this is a chance to make some more money the next day, and of course it's smart if you're soul-less, and there are quit...

Re: Transfer Deadline Day Thread

What's Ronaldo alleged to have done? Completely missed that one. Can't be any worse than Mendy or Glyfi <laugh> He's alleged to have raped a woman in Vegas shortly after his Real Madrid transfer. He's confirmed to have given her a payoff to stop participating with police, but police there reopened ...

So it rolls on , like a festering turd heading straight to the Gary glitter. Our fixtures now reading like , hmm, is the next one a must win or a must not lose. What a cluster f!ck Depends how you look at it. I don't mind going down again, like I did last time. The only reason why we're still in *b...
