Re: Coronavirus

America just forced GM to make ventilators. Not sure how I feel about that. Should a government be able to force a private company to make things? Flies heavily in the face of everything American capitalism stands for.

Ordered a chinese last night. Little chinese driver comes to the door and I walk out to meet him. He shouts "isolate, isolate". I say, "mate calm down, I only ordered half an hour ago."

Re: Coronavirus

Went out today to get the weekly groceries. Looks like business as normal.

I think half a million will be dead here within the next 6 weeks.

Re: Coronavirus

As far as I can tell almost everyone is ignoring the stay at home advise in Texas.

I'm waiting with a kind of morbid fascination to see if we will break 500,ooo dead.

Re: Pavel's eBar

Here is an interesting thought. UK currently has 137 deaths. The mortality rate appears to be about 1.2% The period from initial infection, incubation, symptoms, death is about 20 days If 137 have died @1.2% that makes roughly 11,400 cases. But that is 11,400 cases 20 days ago..... So those 11,400 c...

Re: Pavel's eBar

<diva> Will they re-test you? I haven't heard anything from them since the diagnosis so not sure what the next steps are apart from self isolate for 14 days and only call 111 if conditions worsen. You do feel very much left on your own and advice and next steps are very hard to discern. We'll be on...

Re: Pavel's eBar

You know, i was talking to my mother earlier, she is 65. She mentioned that if you are going to catch this then now is the time. Get it while the hospital beds are still available and the NHS isnt swamped.

Weird but logical.

Re: Holidays

I went on a cruise around the Caribbean . The ship was ok, sat out on the deck and smoked cigars and drank a lot. Then we had a few days on the islands and that was glorious.
