Re: Sandro Tonali Deal Confirmed? You bet!

I don't really buy into that argument, one bet even if it's 10k or whatever is barely going to change odds when in the grand scheme it's going to be nothing in terms of the volume of bets during the week/weekend. I think the influence these individual bets make is vastly overstated here. Definitely...

Re: Sandro Tonali Deal Confirmed? You bet!

Lucky boy, As mentioned before match fixing isn't the only issue it's influencing the market I don't really buy into that argument, one bet even if it's 10k or whatever is barely going to change odds when in the grand scheme it's going to be nothing in terms of the volume of bets during the week/we...

Re: Sandro Tonali Deal Confirmed? You bet!

It's not the length really that's weird to me, I just thought it would have made sense to ban in Italy and for a ban hearing to be held separately to enforce a PL/FA ban. The whole betting thing is bizarre in football though considering the well covered argument of how the sport is rife with bettin...

https://twitter.com/NUFC/status/1786032972824498499?t=oJnu7rdUNNufDoYZtsBJ7w&s=19 In short no ban extension <diva> Good to know he just admitted these charges without any evidence that he had breached whilst in England. Brave an honest decision, would have been so easy to keep quiet about it. Hopefu...

Will still probably get judged on Hazard though <gent>
First impressions last a lifetime <roll>
Funniest thing is at the time someone guessed he was talking about Yoshinori Muto, then we went and actually signed Muto a few weeks later 😅

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

Lots of talk about Tosin today, some in the local press claiming we are very close to agreeing a deal.

Re: Football Titbits

Seems like it would be a massive project, not from the area so don't know the ins and outs of Leazes park and why it can't be on there. Is it possible it moves onto that land and then the park gets extended onto where the ground is now? <scratch>

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

Chelsea are already knackered though aren't they by being already well past the UEFA thresholds, so holding other clubs back might benefit them? To be honest I'm not reading anything into this until details start coming through and clubs actually act on it. For all we know the threshold could be 20...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

That's f***ing ridiculous if that's true. Jesus. I think he was on decent money at Villa and when we signed him he got a pay rise. Always felt the Targett one was a bit of a weird one, he did great on the loan spell but i never thought he was a must buy for us, was always one that would be immediat...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

In related news, PL clubs voted in favour of an anchored finance cap for the 25/26 season (finer details to be ironed out in june) This rule would see an overall spending cap at 4x the tv revenue if the bottom placed team the previous season. In context of us it would have ment this season we would ...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

Dubravka is a decent GK but I don't think he will ever fit into the style of play we want, he's just a shot stopper and one that has seen better days. Ideally want a back up GK who can play that sweeper keeper role, Pope is still one of the best at that in the league in terms of stats from last seas...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

Been looking at the squad and I think it's possible we can still have a good summer of recruitment and we can still keep our best players. I think the key would be for us to try to get out as many of the fringe players and those who imo are not needed. Outs: Almiron (£20m) Wilson (£15m) Longstaff (£...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Blades

Murphy and Longstaff shouldn't start a single game next season unless it's the league cup or an injury crisis. I struggle to think of anyone in the top 15 of the PL that would have them as regular starters. Also probably an unpopular opinion but I think Anderson won't ever offer much more for us, I ...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

I've said it before but Joelinton is the more irreplaceable, there really aren't many midfielders like him. Bruno is brilliant but his attributes are already covered to an extent by Tonali, and of course you'd hope we sign a replacement should he go. Fingers crossed he stays of course. Bruno is rep...

Re: Dan Ashworth confirmed as gardening director

Also the fact Man Utd and Rat boy have been banging on about how great he is and how he's "the best in the world" yet at the same time bitching that they have to compensate us so they can take him on. The entitlement is unreal. The fact Ashworth is doubling down on the unprofessionalism I think is a...

Re: Dan Ashworth confirmed as gardening director

Will be glad to see the back of him, has pretty much shown himself up to be a bit of a prick. He knew the conditions of his contract when he signed, just like he knew coming here was a long term project. Feel like he's someone getting carried away with his own hype.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Palace

Penalty call will be used as an excuse but once again today we have been horrendous, completely lacked any direction or anything that even resembled a plan. 2nd best all over the pitch, at times we didn't even know what pass to make, so ponderous and slow on the ball, hint of rising arrogance after ...
