Re: Joelinton to sign tomorrow?

If it's true Bruce has a £ 90m kitty, and bearing in mind we need at least 4 or 5 players, is almost half of it too much to lump on one player - especially as it's probably a Gini Widjnaldum 'stepping stone' kind of signing on the players/agents and Ashleys part - he'll have to be some player to ma...

Re: The next manager?

Does Bruce fully appreciate what he's getting himself into? In his shoes I'd steer well clear of Newcastle. He'll be barracked by the fans, likely disrespected by demotivated players, not given funds to sign anyone beyond the usual bare minimum loans, watch us get bulldozed by every club until he ge...

Patrick Viera is supposedly in contention but it won't happen as we'd have to pay compensation to his current club; which is nice.

So apparently we took out a loan with Barclays to cover the Almiron signing... What does that mean for the club and possible sale in future?

Re: Micky Gray talking cobblers on TalkSport. Again.

Yeah, it took 3 years from the Man City purchase (2008) to them winning the FA Cup and qualifying for the CL (2011). With bottomless funding, we could easily do the same. As always in this sport, money talks the loudest.

It's grim news and though not confirmed yet, it seems pretty certain a crash like that would have killed all on board. RIP

Re: Ashley “close to conceding defeat” re: selling the club

He's an owner in the mould of Hicks and Gillett. The main difference is that there's only one of him so there aren't quite the same conflagrations in the boardroom. But I'm beginning to believe that the next time this club gets sold it will be as part of a court order.

It is small change, but it's utterly absurd that a football club that has a foodbank outside it on a matchday should give quarter of a million pounds to a well paid exec as a present. Just give him a f***ing tie.

Re: WEEKEND FOOTBALL - 31 AUGUST/2 SEPTEMBER 2018

I had no problems letting Mitro away, because I knew we wouldn't play him or get the best out of him. What I have a problem with is getting a decent price for him and not replacing him with more than Rondon. Rondon is a fine player but we need someone he can play understudy to.

I doubt Muto is ready for 90 mins of Premier League football, and doesn't seem to be entirely happy that Rondon is settled yet.
I'd take an unsettled Rondon over Joselu.

Re: The Marlon Santos Thread (£1.5m loan fee agreed; awaiting work permit)

What were they doing even wasting their last hours trying to bring him in? It's their job to know and understand these things, and it seems pretty obvious he was always going to fail the permit process - especially without the opportunity of an appeal. But I'd add, is there a (major) footballing co...
