Anyone referred to as ‘the next...’ whoever is doomed to fail <laugh>

Hugo Viana was the next Figo, Bruno Cheyrou was the next Zidane!
True, and it was invalidated speculation, but there was more of an expectation than signing a guy and leaving him in the reserves / sent out on loan.

Re: Pointless Transfers...

Point: to get paid more. By a club with better facilities, more resources and likely better staff. He probably knew he had no chance to break through, but he also probably knew he couldn't pass up the very slim chance he could. I remember him arriving with a reputation of being a wonderkid so I don...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2019)

I would actually speculate that he isn't good enough to warrant a Championship club taking on his Premier League level wages, whatever those are.

I imagine this was a fallback deal, hence being signed on the last day.

Re: Boycott

Only 43k at the Watford match, our smallest PL gate since 2012 (according to NUFC.com)...was there a secret boycott, more stayed away from this than they did the boycotts against Arsenal and Spurs <laugh> I guess additionally it should be considered that this is a less glamorous fixture for a team ...

Re: League Cup: Leicester (h)

I can see Fernandez holding his place for Saturday to give Jamal at three week break to recover. I wouldn't be concerned. I think Clark deputised fine too, always was a steady hand and a corner goal threat. Both should be retained Very good for Muto to get a goal, regardless of how it was scored - w...

Can we play them next pre season too? Ideally after they sign Jonas and Demba Ba?
Or maybe someone else can join Colo at San Lorenzo?
Colback and Saivet off the wage bill would be great. I'm happy to pack their bags for them <run>

Re: Match Thread - Spurs v NUFC

Good grief, he's fine as a back-up. I've thought him to have covered some of the most ground through two weeks. I don't think he's good enough for the role he was put in, and it clearly put other players out of position, but I didn't find his effort to be the problem in those matches at least. I co...

Re: Match Thread - Spurs v NUFC

As a big Rafa fan I got to say I think we don't win that with him in charge, yes we were defensive but I wouldn't say it was in a negative manner, once we broke them down we were always looking to get forward, even towards the end of the game, I think it was one of our free kicks towards the end, w...

Re: Match thread - Spurs v NUFC

No one is looking forward to or expecting anything more than a shower of s*** performance on Sunday. A draw would be a huge plus, a win currently unfathomable.

3-0 to Spurs, if we're lucky.

Re: Boycott

Not refuting any points made, but with the situations leading up to the start of the season, and the opening fixtures that were scheduled, the club was destined to fail this season. If you look at the first 10 fixtures, only Watford and Brighton at home looked winnable. Even now, I'd be (pleasantly,...

Re: Boycott

The loan is not just for show, it is how cash injections are treated and i'd be willing to bet that the accounts of virtually every club will contain loan balances from their owner. To state that "every other club" is just given the money as a debt free gift is an utterly inaccurate and dishonest s...

Re: Boycott

That is a baseless assertion that makes no sense. The club owes him hundreds of millions in interest free loans. If he wants or needs cash from the club he just has to request a loan repayment, just as he did in the last financial year when £8m (not sure of amount - going by memory) was repaid to h...

Re: Boycott

There is a big claim that 'profit' is being made by Ashley, because not all of the revenues that are required to run the club (TV, commercial, matchday) are left in the club. He is taking money from the club - it's not possible that a club this size is the only one in the league where the income isn...

Re: Other Clubs Transfer Deals (Summer 2019)

Anyone else paranoid about someone like Leicester it Everton coming in for Schar and/or Lascelles on deadline day...? God knows why but i'm pretty confident we won't sell any of our best players at most i can see Gayle going but not the likes of Schar, Lascelles, Dubravka, Longstaff etc. Agreed. Pr...

McCarthy has gone to Palace
Palace have replaced their best young player with 4 over 28... and an average squad age of 28 already.

Especially if they sell Zaha, I think they’re going to be in real trouble this year.
Burnley are in the same situation - might even be worse

It certainly didn't help. In hindsight, going back to France in your prime having failed in England may have allowed him to thrive at his level. The point would be that he didn't stand out internationally or at continental level, but looks a star player in league games. I think he simply didn't get...
