Re: Wolves thread. interested but also terrified

Need to switch to a system which connects defence to attack. Wilson far too isolated for us to launch long balls to. Wolves happy to leave 2/3 players in defence to thwart the counter attack.

Re: Match day thread: Newcastle v Man U

Why don’t we play 3 CBs anymore? Injuries? It seems we’re setting up with 4 man defence only to build the midfield up to protect it. This leaves Wilson isolated and requires ASM to dribble past the entire opposition from our 12 yard box. What exactly was Joelinton’s role last night? We need much mor...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2020)

I think to remember him as a player who scored a couple of great goals is a perfectly good way to do it, I basically only remember Pancrate for that goal against Watford and the time we played him as the worlds most rapid full back. Nb: I'm not comparing Ben Arfa to Pancrate... The thing many peopl...

Re: Man United & Liverpool lead 18 club Prem Proposal

Changing it to an 18 team league is just a step towards eventually creating a super premier league with just 10 teams. Also relegation play offs would just be horrific. No wonder it’s the elite clubs who’d never have to worry about playing in such a fixture are the ones suggesting it. Works in othe...

Re: Man United & Liverpool lead 18 club Prem Proposal

2010TOPS <laugh> Oh I know what it means in terms of Qualification but the history aspect is just ludicrous and s*** cover for "we are big we must be in the CL" as you rightly point out. If it was actually based on history we'd be giving spots to Villa and Forest every year <laugh> It's just gallin...

Re: Other club transfers summer 2020

Never understood the issue with that tbh, there's only 2 teams in the league with the same 'name' so it's natural to refer to them as 'City' and 'United'. Most other teams just go by their location without the United part when spoke about casually or in the press. I refer to Man Utd as "United" all...

Re: WEEKEND FOOTBALL - 3/4 OCTOBER 2020

Aston Villa are looking really good this season. I guess they won't be too bothered about missing out on Wilson now <laugh> Maybe. It’s still too early to determine how good each side will be. Amazing result against Liverpool but it was a weird game (4? deflected goals) and they’ve played the botto...

A back-up striker on loan has to be on the agenda. Our midfield problems are likely solved just by dropping Shelvey.

Re: Newport County v Newcastle - League Cup 4th Round

I've been having an argument with someone on twitter who believes he was our best player last night and put in a very good performance as a 'DCM'. I think this is one of the worst bits, people who don't watch us regularly or frankly don't understand football think he's brilliant. Still baffled he m...

Re: VAR and the latest handball rules

No other sports loves a contentious decision quite like football. You’re never going to get complete consistency as so many ‘laws’ are open to interpretation. Surely it just comes down to referees using common sense and penalising based on the wider context of the handball in play; has player used h...
