Re: Janmaat: I love this club already, and I’d love to stay

Should offer him the captaincy and hope it is enough to convince him to stay.

On the age of footballers thing, it wont be long before someone born in the year 2000 makes his debut! <yikes>

Re: The team we could put out for our final run-in

So anyone know whether Lascelles can play for us after the Championship has finished? He wasn't registered in the 25 (23) man squad, but didnt turn 21 until Nov Another strange anomaly is that Jamaal Lascelles (pictured above) is once again listed as being available to Newcastle if they want to pla...

Re: Pele: Bobby Charlton, George Best same level as Messi

As for Maradona, i've just never been as blown away by the skills of a player as I have by him. For me his biggest achievement is that he succeeded in making massive contributions to the success of both an average national side and an average club side (albeit they were in the top league of their n...

Re: Pele: Bobby Charlton, George Best same level as Messi

You get endless Messi/Ronaldo comparisons but it looks like Ronaldo is already past his peak, approaching 30 and on the way down, whereas Messi has scored similar number of goals at 27 and his style is less dependent on physical imposition. I never saw Maradona or Pele as I'm far too young for that,...

Re: Janmaat: An Improvement on Debuchy?

Nolan was nowhere near as good as Cabaye but I bet his goals meant his overall contribution (statistically at least) wasnt far off.

“QPR went there and beat them 2-0 just a few weeks ago. I think they’ve got it all on, Sunderland. I think it’s going to be tough.”
"Even that shower of s**** I left behind beat them, they must be the worst team in the league" <laugh>

Re: Janmaat: An Improvement on Debuchy?

Think Janmaat is more rounded and probably better overall, but Debuchy is a much better fit for Arsenal than us because of the way they play, so never really played his best stuff here. If Janmaat leaves, Jenkinson would be the one I'd go for or maybe Micah Richards on a free? Any ideas how he's doi...

Re: England squad for upcoming games

I understand the need for players to be familiar with one another and a relatively settled squad, but what is to be gained by naming virtually the same squad every time? You learn absolutely nothing new by starting Rooney for the 102nd time, the likes of Ings/Austin should be getting their chances....

Re: How Close Are You To Giving Up on NUFC?

I'm packing in the season ticket if Carver gets the job and frankly, I only still go to/watch games because I havent anything better to do most weekends. If I was at a busier time in my life, the football would be very low on the list of priorities, and as long as they have this s***ty attitude, tha...

Come to think of it he'll probably be required at left back or something, the way this season is going.

Lascelles could return for last 3 games

(from NUFC.com) Amid talk of free agent signings, reinforcements for Newcastle's ailing back four could yet come this season from an unexpected source - Nottingham Forest. With ten games remaining in the Championship, Forest's recent revival has raised them up to ninth but they remain nine points of...
