Re: Match Day - Crystal Palace v Newcastle

So Isaac Hayden has Covid. Hopefully Longstaff is no.10 in a 4-2-3-1. That said - Hendrick and Shelvey in CM are about as safe as a covid outbreak in a nursing home...

Re: Match Thread: Southampton v Newcastle

Zero plan on or off the ball. Pressing in ones and two rather than as a unit. No control in possession.

Re: Match Thread: Southampton v Newcastle

Why is Schär committing like that when Fernandez has just got beaten on the halfway line? 3 at the back becomes 1 in 5 seconds. Suicidal defending

Murphy’s got to release the ball earlier. Hendrick is so much worse than Hayden.

Biden-esque comeback.
I heard the Leeds bench were demanding the ref stopped counting goals when it was at 3-2

Re: Match thread: Newcastle v Everton

I was just wondering long term whether it'd be a fight between Woodman and Darlow. Just checked and saw that Darlow is 30! I thought he was about 25 <laugh> Definitely been impressed with Darlow since he came into the team. Think he's made one error that I can remember but given the amount of shots...

Re: Newcastle Loan Watch 2020/21

Another 90 mins for Lejeune v Barcelona this weekend in a 1-1 draw. He’s clocking up the minutes, really hope he’s reintegrated back into our first team next season. 5 games 0 goals for Muto in his loan spell so far. He’ll be another Saivet I think, we’ll keep trying to loan him out but we won’t be...

Re: Match thread: Newcastle v Everton

I think realistically in a 4 Murphy will come out for Krafth, and I'm sure against top sides he'll come out for Manquillo if we're playing a 5. Also not convinced by Schar in a 4. But delighted to see Shelvey out in all cases - we're just worse with him in the side. He needs a dominating CM like Dia...

Re: Match thread: Newcastle v Everton

Fede Fernández at the back was solid again, what a centre-back. Great sub impact with Ryan Fraser. Sean Longstaff decent game. Since Saint-Maximin has signed the new and improved contract and plays in the centre position... erm... he played a couple of s*** games. <erk> Jordan Pickford enjoyed at t...

Re: Match thread: Newcastle v Everton

And further to my previous post, when has playing deep and soft ever worked for us? We park the bus every week, concede so much pressure, and had what did they say, 2 clean sheets in our last 14? So the idea that we have to play that way to get results is proven wrong by the lack of defensive resul...

Re: Match thread: Newcastle v Everton

Darlow’s distribution is so ropey. Good keeper when it comes to saves but invites pressure with some of his clearances. ASM doesn’t look anywhere near as dangerous in this free role. Much prefer him off the left wing. That said we look much more defensively balanced like this (esp without Shelvey). ...

Re: Football Kit 20/21

Rumours flying around that we've signed a deal with Castore who make Rangers kits. Could be bollocks, but could be interesting. Allegedly £5m/year for five years which is less than Puma are paying us and a long time to lock in for if we’re going to be taken over... Though from a kit perspective it’...

Re: NUFC Minor/Untrusted Transfer Rumours (Summer 2020)

Apparently that Florent Indalecio, striker on trial, 23, mate of ASM, been offered a deal until the end of the season. I'm assuming he can't be registered in the squad, I'm sure the squad list was full? Obviously expect him to go into the reserves and not much more for the time being. If there was ...

Re: Match day thread: Newcastle v Man U

Not a Bruce hater but against so many sides he just wants to sit off for 90 and hope. But he didn't even do that competently. If that was the plan, you'd play a proper back 3/5 - Schar, Lascelles, Fernandez from the start - with Lewis and Manquillo as wing backs, Hayden and Shelvey in the middle an...
