Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Cherries

It's like Dan's been told to close nobody down because he'll otherwise get beat for pace, thereby giving up shots and passes. If you have to sub a defender this many weeks in a row, maybe change the starting XI. Howes time is running out Wtf is it with this Burn thing I'm not watching the game howe...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Cherries

But I was told we didn't need strengthening because the squad was finally getting healthy and there wouldn't be playing time...*sigh*

Re: Football Titbits

Reinforces why I think we need to maintain some momentum to finish out the season. We haven't reached the point yet where top player or staff talent will pick us irrespective of standings like Man U, Chelsea, etc. can get away with. We're a great project sure, but being owned by PIF means less when ...

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Forest

Barnes needs to start next match. And please just **** off with Burn at LB. For all his dodginess as a full back when attacked with a bit of pace, he cleared out about 90% of those long throws that forest were chucking in, so much so that by the second half they weren't in the slightest bit worryin...

Burn starts. As does Gordon. Rest of the team picks itself
Eddie would suggest the entire team including Burn picks itself.

Re: Howe under pressure?

I kinda hate that criticism of a manager immediately is immediate read as wanting to replace the manager - you can want to keep him while still levelling criticism for what feels like an obvious and repeating mistake. And I'll also clarify this is a big picture criticism, not something directed at t...

Just got in in time to see us go 3-2 down. Now 4!!

I'm going out again, **** this.

Have we really been that bad?
First half looked by far the more threatening team, but 2 lapses cost those goals. In the second half haven't offered much at all except s**** defending.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Hatters

I feel bad that Burn has become such a target of ire for me, but I hate that our back is against the financial wall and yet there are 2 expensive fullbacks sitting on the bench, one of whom was repeatedly man of the match when he was out.

See previous post about Burn getting beat for pace. Pretty sick of watching it happen every week.

Half arsed defending yet again, lazy ****.
Agreed. It's goals like that one that really highlight the lack of a true central defensive midfielder.

As per usual, he's great at getting into those positions, and to his credit that was a good finish.

Re: Matchday thread - Toon v Hatters

Took 3 minutes for Burn to be beat for pace again. I feel guilty that I'm starting to view him like Iron Mike.

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

The injuries make it seem worse. Willock, Barnes and Anderson are forecast to be recovering this month - likely eased in from the bench from February. Lascelles and Targett too. Any loan player will be competing with a fair few bodies by March. I do wonder how the likes of Diallo/Ndiweni/A.Murphy f...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

I used the forward reference, but when we've regularly been playing with so little depth of talent that Eddie is reticent to even make a sub, I just struggle to believe there's nobody out there at least worth of that. I don't want players for players sake, but the past several months' form illustrat...

Re: Midweek football - 30/01 to 01/02/24

Brighton sure are capable of a stinker from time to time. De Zerbi hype is just hype imo. He’s got potential but he’s got a hell of a lot to learn imo. You can’t just set up nowadays and completely disregard any form of defence, which is what he does. Agreed. It looks wonderful when clicking, but c...

Re: Transfer Rumours/Wishlist

Nobody among the coaching or front office staff can convince we can't afford or benefit from at least a loan deal. Say what you want about how little depth other teams have too, but how many are without forwards as often as us?
