This, we're far too casual and it's cost us with both goals being very preventable.

Re: Official Match Day Thread - Club Brugge vs Newcastle Uni

Colo's been done for a dummy there, that goal is exactly like the Suarez one but of a lesser quality.

Re: Official Match Day Thread - Club Brugge vs Newcastle Uni

Good play by Shola and Obertan. Obertan lacks quality finishing, if he had that he would be starting for us more often in the Prem IMO.

Good defensive play by Tarvernier. I think he has the potential to be a top Premier League full-back.

Re: Official Match Day Thread - Club Brugge vs Newcastle Uni

Good line-up, nice to see Marvo finally getting his chance and I hope he grasps it because I think he could eventually take over Jonas' place in the team. He's quick, nippy, agile, a very good crosser, creative and technically fantastic.

Re: Vurnon Anita

Anita was good today. Showed his passing ability, composure, tackling and technical ability. He's not exactly a defensive midfielder like Tiote or a creative playmaker like Cabaye but he's like a mix of the two (box-to-box) because he has a good engine, can pass, can tackle, can defend, quick feet, ...

I'd rather that than against Colo, Willo was excellent vs Carroll last season.
This, plus we could always put Perch alongside Willo/Saylor after the West Ham game. It was a reckless and stupid foul by Colo though. <disgrace>

Re: Official Match Day Thread - Liverpool vs Newcastle

We started very slow but towards the end of the first half we got into it more and got the goal. Liverpools spell of dominance at the beginning didn't come to anything because of our solid defence effort. Then when we got more into it we showed Liverpool how to create chances and Cabaye showed why ...

Re: Official Match Day Thread - Liverpool vs Newcastle

Good line-up IMO. It'll be interesting to see how Anita does at RB today seeing his previous performance against Everton was quite decent, he looks so much better playing as a full-back than in midfield with his pace, crossing ability and passing ability.

Re: Guthrie Banned from Reading Training Ground?

As for Simpson, he's an average quality PL right back. He'd do the job if we were aiming around 10th place, but if we're aiming for 6th to 4th place, we need a better quality defender, otherwise he will always be a weakness in our best strength XI. He's fairly solid in defending apart from the odd ...

Re: Official Match Day Thread - Newcastle Vs West Brom

Overall we were distinctly average and if it wasn't for that deflection it would have been two points lost IMO. Seriously need to step up a gear or two if we want to challenge the top six. West Brom were hard done by and there counter-attacking tactics were spot on. It was a hard toil at times but a...

Re: Official Match Day Thread - Newcastle Vs West Brom

We quite clearly need to spend on another quality CB in jan. Sorry, but Saylor has been poor this season, and I am not confident with Willo! Also, reckon we need to sign another Ben Arfa like player, to play on the other flank - maybe Boudebouz. Also, I really want Remy. Going by the feeds I am get...
